Overall i had a Great experience. I had to stay with this hostel twice in my search for an apartment. Its very clean the staff is very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff is great at providing excellent customer service (Bennie Langston hanna and the rest). House keeping does a great job cleaning and the house keeping manager is great i beleve her name is Ronda. I would recommend everyone to say at this hostel

Getaway hostel is located in a safe and convenient neighborhood. Train stations and bus stops are 5-7 mins away, and it takes 30-45 minuets to go to downtown with bus/train. Prices are great, staff is awesome. Unlike other hostels, you can get a private room for 2. You will see tourists from all around the world. It is a nice place to meet people from different parts of the world. They also have patio, pool table and broken foosball table. I enjoyed my stay and I would go again.

The hostel was very hip and welcoming! It is in a safe neighborhood and minutes from the train station and bus stop. I was pleasantly surprised with the charming one bedroom I shared with my friend. The breakfast was good with classic American choices. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. The only downside was the bathrooms could be checked more often. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago.

This hostel is really nice, very good organization for the kitchen that is huge. I was in a 12 bed male room and was a bit annoying because people there totally didn't care about other people. I woke up like 10 times during the night cause of the noise of other guests. But anyway the hostel is good, safe neighborhood, very helpful staff.

Only needed to stay one night. I booked a 6-8 bed male dorm with a private bathroom. Turns out there were only 4 beds which meant only three other strangers would be with me, so that was good. Whoever checked me wasn't the most friendly person. I failed to understand that even though I reserved a room online, my card hadn't been charged yet and I had to pay upfront. Although the man was patient, he clearly was annoyed having to explain this to me. Not a big deal since I learned from it. You get your own room key and can use it to get into the building if you're coming in late at night, which is smart and secure. The room was clean, sheets folded with a towel, pillow, and blanket. There are outlets beside every bed, even the top bunks. The bathroom was okay but a little dirty, smelly, and the fan turned on automatically with the light and was very loud. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Make sure you bring your own toiletries like soap and shampoo. The sink was in the room with the beds instead of being in the bathroom, which was strange. I really liked the option to have free breakfast every morning. It's satisfying as long as you aren't expecting a 5-star dining experience. It's a younger crowd staying at this place, so people seemed willing to be social, get to know you and share experiences. Checkout is 11am. Even after you check out they'll hold your luggage for you if you want to go out for a few hours. One of my favorite things about this hostel is that it is in a safe area outside of the downtown area, and that gives you reason to explore more of Chicago than just the Loop. Take time to venture out and see Lincoln Park, Lakeview and the Oldtown areas while you're staying here!

The area is very beautiful, convenient and safe. Many food options here. The rooms are neat and minimalistic in a good way. The kitchen has free coffee, a 75 cent kurig and complete kitchen option. The bathrooms can be a little far and there are no free toiletries only 1 dollar ones at the counter. The hostel offers many events and free breakfast! The breakfast includes eggs, toast, bagels, oatmeal, fruit and coffee. The bathrooms could be cleaner and checked more often. That's the only downfall. Lovely place. Would definitely come back.
