Support a Holland company that is doing something creative and cool. You can own one for $80 - or just throw in some bucks to help them the project off the ground.

It was at dawn on the highway south of the Mackinaw bridge with heavy fog. As the sun broke rose over the horizon, the fog magnified the golden sunlight. I would have preferred if the dear was pointing in the other direction but you have to take what nature gives you.

The photos in the +National Geographic magazine has always been the benchmark for photographers. In South Africa we had some friends who subscribed to the magazine. As a kid I remember spending long hours thumbing through stacks of magazines at their house, learning and dreaming of places in foreign lands.

This web site provides some additional insights into the lives of the photographers who enriched my life so tremendously.
We are a group of contributing National Geographic Magazine Photographers, committed to telling the world's stories through photographs

Beautiful images by Scott Kelby. Can't wait to return to Rome.
I feel very fortunate to have seen some of the most beautiful churches in the world during my travels, but nothing prepared me for my visit to St. Peters. I just had no idea. The sheer scale and scope of it is truly awe-inspiring in the way a magnificent landscape feels when you're standing in front of it.One of Michael Angelo’s most famous sculptures greets you at the entrance. Thousands flock here to see this marvel ofRenaissanceart and archite...

It seems I am only into photography but every once in a while I do something interesting at work that would be helpful for other developers.

For $5 you get what you pay for. Ig you want 30-40 canvas prints, you will have to do it yourself (or take out the big bucks). I see it as been there done that photos. At least it can go into the shoe box and not get lost on the hard drive and never get printed.

Looks like our school has found a new photographer! Maybe it's just me being that I have a love and passion for photography! Something I have not been able to quench as of late.

Connor had his first year of basketball come to a completion this past weekend.  We were told last week that pictures were being taken of each individual and even of the team.  Ok, that's fine.  Normally we don't get school pictures because I can just shoot and edit them myself.  Granted the gentleman that did it previously was great at it and had  huge clientele.

Today my son pulls out from his bag an envelope contain one team picture and 3 wallets! On the front it said his name, class name and at the bottom was $5 checks made out to *******.  My wife and I granted didn't order anything, didn't ask for anything and never received any type of information packet what so ever.  I guess what really irks me is that in my opinion things could have been different. Hair was a mess, picture was crooked and it was basically shot quickly, taken to Walmart and printed. No idea who this person is, no Facebook, nothing on Google!  Like who does this!!

Just thought I would ask others what they would think!

I was asked by the River City Camera Club to answer the following questions after my presentation on Design at their January meeting.

1. What is the number one thing photography has taught you about life?
I see photography as a visual journey which causes you to pause every now and then and appreciate your surroundings. Before photography I was blind and it taught me to see the beauty in everyday life.

2. What was the best photo that you didn't get (missed)?  Your best photo that you did get?
My best photo is always going to be the next one I'm going to take. If you don't have your camera with you, you will miss every photo 100% of the time. I don't know what I photos I missed, because I never took it.

3. What main point(s) did you want the members to take away with them from your presentation?
To become skillful in photography you have to master the technical and know how to apply the principles of good design. Every photographer is at a different stage in this journey. You have to understand and master this intersection of art and science before you can creatively execute your vision.

_4. As a judge (or as a photographer) what advice would you give to those who compete? _
Understand the rules of design, use them analyze your images. Ask the following questions:

   * What are the strong design elements?
   * Where are the distractions?
   * What can I do to minimize distractions and emphasize the design?

5. Why do you not compete in the clubs?
I reached a point where you don't want to submit any images unless they are top honor quality. I always tried to enter fresh or recent images and if you don't shoot enough you rarely reach that bar. The reward wasn't always enough for the psychological anguish it put me through.

+Chris Orwig - Your visual poetry book has been one of my favorites. I think there is a gap between the message photographers are looking for and the message they are getting. A lot has to do about the skill level and where the listener is on their photography journey. I would look at the Dreyfuss model of skills to taylor the message to the audience. Beginners tend to want technical details while advanced journeymen looks for the creative interpretation and emotional content conveyed by their work.

HELP!!! Will you give me some advice?

PART 1 - BOOK IDEAS
My book publisher wants me to write another book.... so I am starting to come up with some ideas. So here's the question - what topic(s) would you be interested in?

PART 2 - WORKSHOP IDEAS
I've made it a goal to start offering workshops this year in these general categories:
1. Photography
2. Post-Production
3. Creativity + Inspiration

Within these categories, what workshops do you recommend I offer?

With the explosion of super chains of restaurants, big box stores and other wall street injections into our cities and back yards, our local environment is becoming bland and uninteresting. The Village Baker breaks out of that mold with a charming environment with a friendly human touch. Owen's passion for baking shows in his creations and combined with Sarah' creative inputs, the store has become more than just another bakery. It is a gem and an asset to the the community.
