One of the many problems with being homeless is that you are invisible even in a crowded place such as Union Station in Washington, DC. This gentleman's name is Reggie and he is part of "The Invisible Ones of Washington, DC" street photography project. This image was taken when I first noticed Reggie making his way through the crowds in the train station.

I liked how this tall, long legged woman wrapped herself around this park bench.

I caught this lovely moment at the Brooklyn Waterfront Park in the Dumbo neighborhood. Spring was definitely in the air last weekend.

The City Center complex in DC is a three block upscale retail and residential complex. Beautiful buildings and an army of private security police making sure the homeless don't get anywhere near the place.

This is how a real community minded business behaves when the need arises. The good people who own http://benschilibowl.com/ saw the need and rose to the occassion. May good Karma follow them for the rest of their days. Just a side note, if you're ever in Washington, DC in the area of 12th & U Street, NW. You will not find a better chili dog anywhere.
When last week's power outage hit Miriam's Kitchen, D.C.'s landmark came through with some last minute half-smokes.

I met Harvey on a busy morning outside the China Town/Gallery Place metro station in Washington, DC. He was lying on the sidewalk propped up on one elbow asking for spare change. It is worth noting that this image was taken on a warm Spring day with temperatures in the 70s, so Harvey's winter parka and hat tended to put people off a bit. Harvey says he's been homeless on and off for about 15 years. This most recent period of time has been for more than 2 years after losing his job with a construction company that did demolition work. Harvey is not very forthcoming with the details of his life and won't talk about family or what factors may be keeping him on the street. One thing that is for certain is that he is terrible at panhandling inspite of the large amount of pedestrian traffic walking by. He did make one comment that may shed some light on his mental state. I asked him how the panhandling  was going and he said that, "people are afraid of him because of his previous job with the demolition company." "When I tell them I used to blow up buildings they get afraid." Harvey was agreeable to having his photograph taken in exchange for a food voucher and a bottle of water. Inspite of his odd appearance and very close proximity to hundreds of passersby, Harvey is indeed invisible.

Another installment of "The Invisible Ones" of Washington, DC
Another installment of "The Invisible Ones" of Washington, DC Reggie is a 50 something, homeless man who is also physically disabled and walks with the assistance of a walker. I first saw him at Union station panhandling near the train gates as passengers were arriving. Given that he moves very slowly with his walker the transit police asked him to move along as he was impeding the flow of traffic. I caught up with him as he was stan...

I was in Brooklyn, NY last weekend visiting friends and had a little time to grab some photos. I go to Brooklyn frequently and would highly recommend it as a street photography destination. This image and others to follow are from the "Dumbo" neighborhood which is at the base of the famous Brooklyn Bridge. Sorry no bridge shots or shots of the lower Manhattan skyline, been there and done that too many times. This young lady caught my eye as I was getting off the East River Ferry coming from Manhattan.

“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head.” — Henri Cartier-Bresson
Introduction

There has been an explosion of digital photography and photographers, both amateur and professional, over the past few years. For digital photographers the focus is the creative and artistic aspect of their work, and this is as it should be. The very nature of digital photography, however, allows for the creation of thousands of images that need to be managed. Digital asset management

(D.A.M.) is at the core of my business model. There is a real need for individualized services tailored to the specific needs of the amateur, semi-pro and pro photographers who want to focus on creativity rather than managing files.
