This was a lucky moment to see the stick insect revealing itself on a leaf... otherwise, it would be nearly impossible to find it between twigs and foliage

The place where I worship is the wild open spaces (Calie Pistorius)
Introduction
I am a physicist who loves his profession and a passionate amateur photographer. Primary subjects are nature, wildlife and travel photography. This is what I mostly share on G+. I love to engage with other passionate amateur or professional photographers, always willing to learn and evolve.

All work on my photos, including RAW processing, creating slide show movies and books is done with open source software on a Linux operating system. I love the open source approach to both software and hardware technology and any new ideas, developments and fields of usage are welcome!

Southern Africa and Madagascar are my primary destinations - anything important happening there certainly matters for me. I'm also dreaming of returning to Nigeria one day where I spent a significant part of my childhood.

Science and technology are welcome topics as long as people know what they're talking about and don't abuse it for their political agenda. I am curious about constructive out-of-the-box ideas that foster human progress and the protection of nature and biodiversity but I hate superficial smattering about saving the planet and hubristic, totalitarian ideologies that consider human beings as a disease that needs to be wiped off the planet. If you want to bother someone with your 64738th lament about global warming, please go elsewhere.
