Heartbroken... please, let the violence stop! You can never grant life back to those who died, so... please don't take it!

Pet #Containers: You’re Not Doing it Wrong by +Joe Brockmeier

Some of my development flow is a pet: http://gbraad.nl/blog/setting-up-a-powerful-self-hosted-ide-in-the-cloud.html Storage is persistent (outside container). Mostly the IDE is long-running, just to be able to easily offer a Ubuntu, Fedora and/or CentOS based environment.

#Cloud9 IDE can run on +OpenShift as an IDE. Of course, it is not Eclipse Che, but it is still a nice editor as it has great Vi emulation and allows you to SSH into nodes, etc.

Due to the way OpenShift works, you are unable to install packages, unless you enable:

$ oadm policy add-scc-to-user anyuid -n c9 -z default

Or otherwise, use it as a base image for some of your development. It is easy to add some RUN instructions to a derived Dockerfile and publish to Docker Hub or GitLab Registry.

Source: https://docs.openshift.org/latest/admin_guide/manage_scc.html#enable-images-to-run-with-user-in-the-dockerfile

Note: currently only enabled for the Fedora 25 image.

F/OSS & IT Consultant - Beijing, China
Introduction
Got exposed to the Amiga-virus in 1986 and never cured... and now a developer and ambassador for the Open Source community by representing different projects, like Fedora, Mozilla, Maemo/MeeGo/Tizen, Mono, FSFe and others.

I am a multi-disciplined developer who has a unique blend of creative, managerial and technical talents. I am highly motivated and continually strive to broaden and deepen my extensive knowledge and expertise. From childhood I have been active in IT and have successfully turned my hobby into a career. Through my openness and involvement I am able to turn each problem into a challenge that needs to be tackled, aiming for a successful outcome. I can be technical, but have excellent communication skills as a team leader, a quality that I have demonstrated many times as an IT manager.

F/OSS & IT Consultant with working experience as a Software/Hardware Engineer and Visuals Artist. Have experience developing software for both Unix/Linux as well as Windows based software in different programming and scripting languages. Hold certification for SCJP (Java Certified Programmer), MCP (Microsoft Certified Programmer for .NET) and Object Orientation. Specialise in dealing with a mixed Operating System environment for development and system administration; using Linux/Unix, Windows, Mac OS X systems and other operating systems. I’m an active consultant for Linux/Open Source in China and as part of this I hold lectures on software development and Open Source. I’m also a Fedora FAmSCo member and assist the Chinese Fedora Community.

As an IT consultant I have many years of experience developing in different programming languages. I have been certified in both Java and C# (.NET) and have dealt with C, Python, JavaScript and many others over the years. Due to this I have an excellent understanding of the underlying concepts and paradigms. Learning another language would not pose a challenge. I have had responsibilities ranging from general software developer team-lead to architect for a migration project (from old technology to greenfield implementation and maintaining the underlying data model). Also dealt with interoperability and cross platform support (x86/Windows, Linux and ARM/Linux) of a large codebase.

Currently I am based in Beijing, China and the Netherlands.
