“Hop, Stop, Pop is about changing the way people travel,” said Sooyong Oum, who was attending the Silicon Beach Young Professionals (SBYP) event, (April 23, 2015), at the Viceroy Hotel, Santa Monica. “For example when someone plans to travel to San Francisco from LA, you might discover more exciting places you can stop and explore along the way,” he said. “It’s different from Trip Advisor, Inc., in that it personalizes your trip experiences that are shared on your smartphone.”
Please share this just published story about a travel app coming
in 2016. Thanks!

You might get a kick out this one if you are big on electric cars. What's interesting and people fail to remember is in order to get electricity to charge you electric car, you need fossil fuels first to provide the energy.

Introduction

I cofounded MAYO Communications in 1995, which has mushroomed into very successful international public relations agency based in LA, with offices in San Diego, New York. In my spare time, I currently write on LA Business Investment stories for the Examiner.com, about transportation, entertainment trends, TV shows, film and lifestyle news for Technorati.com. For the last decade I've written PR industry articles for the infamous Jack O’Dwyer PR Publications, http://odwyerpr.com, NY.

I serve on the Silicon Beach Young Professionals (YP) Board of Directors, one of the fastest growing groups in SoCal. Since January monthly attendance of entrepreneurs, startup CEOs and Investors has jumped 500%. The mixers are sponsored by #GOOGLE and #GODADDY EXAMINER: (http://goo.gl/UOzOqa) and TECHNORATI: (http://goo.gl/GFlbLC)

I have scores of journalism, writing and photography awards, but the award I'm most proud of is the Medal of Valor, California State Firefighters Association for saving the life of a noted UCLA Medical Center doctor from his burning SUV following an early morning head-on crash. I was on my way to a crisis workshop in Century City, too.

I enjoy mentoring buddy PR and media pros and speak at local universities such as USC, UCLA and Loyola Marymount. I maintain dozens of blogs on every industry from business, entertainment to high tech and in social media, too. Some highlights are listed in the column on your right.

I really appreciate feedback and comments on my work, and just this year started a new private group called Entertainment Publicists & Communicators (more) on Linkedin.com, which has grows at around two to three dozen new members a week at approaching 5,500+ members in a short time. Only communicators can join.

Before public relations, I carved an award-winning TV and radio news career covering LA Riots, earthquakes, courts cops and LA City hall. I'm one of two of original writers on Today in LA Weekends, 1st 90 minute show on NBCLA. As a newsreporter my voice could be heard on KGIL Newstalk 1260 AM, on KFI 640 AM, KNX, CBS and NBC Mutual News. During the devastating earthquakes, wildfires and LA riots he worked as a news correspondent for NBC Mutual New, KNX, KRLA and KZLA FM radio stations.

My last decade of corporate communications and media relations jobs included: MAYO Communications, Los Angeles Homeless Services AuthorityCerrell & Associates, Inc., and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles.. I also serve as publicity director on the Silicon Beach Young Professionals Board of Directors (SBYP), which is the fastest growing hightech and young professionals group in SoCal.

I grew up in Washington State. I obtained my Bachelors in Communications and Journalism (double major) at Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA.  I received  technical photography training as US Navy Photographer, (US Naval Schools of Photography, Pensacola, FL) and manned a military CIO and photo lab on base at  Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, WA. (Honorable discharge).

I'm past president and an active board member of the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society (EPPS) with chapters in New York and LA. I'm also a past board member and publicity committee chairman of Public Relations Society of America, LA Chapter. (PRSA).

I sat at the Counter (no pun intended here) so I could watch the bar tender, servers and customer reactions to the activity going on. I only had a hour for lunch, but as a first timer visiting I received the red carpet treatment. I felt so motivated I started tweeting and even posting my lunch plate online. The place is amazing. I had the signature Counter burger, which includes bacon, sunny side up egg on top inside a french bun (choose your own bread), but my mouth is so small, so I had a challenge just taking bite. It was delicious delicious. The frys were hot and yummy, too. Since I was working, I did not get a chance to try the dozen or so beer choices on tap, but I notice a sign that said you can have up to four sample taster tests (4 ounches each, which = 16 ounces of free beer) I will be back Friday night. Thx!

I attending Whisky a Go Go during a teen concert for my client Dance Moms and was amazed at the size of the place in Hollywood. It has a great stage for bands, huge floor and also a great balcony with seating for about 75 people. It has great light, access and parking and history with music giants in Hollywood.

One of the most critical agencies in Los Angeles County making a difference in fighting Homelessness. Getting homeless families (children, too) off the street and into a home costs taxpayers less than 1/3 of the costs to pay for homelessness on the street. Think about it and take action. LA Homeless Services Authority always need volunteers, are you in? I am.

I attended an awards show and was wowed by the decorations and lighting. Very warm lighting for a nice evening dinner. Also the food is very delicious and served hot. The venue is perfect for funding raising events, red carpet celebrity charity events and it has a stage and PA system. If you need a dancing floor they have a wooden floor that is huge in the middle of the ballroom. There is also balcony seating for a spectacular view of everything going on in front of you. Nice place!
