I was wondering if anyone has ever used the training services offered by Patrick's Academy (http://www.patricksacademy.com/) on Pratt Street in Hartford.  If so, what was your experience like?

I have never heard of this company. I know that's not constructive, but when I was looking for places to help me find a job or fine tune my skills, they never came up on a radar.

I found a two-player board variant on BGG for a game in my collection and I'm thinking of printing it out.  The thing is, I don't want to do it at home, taping a bunch of pieces together.  In fact, I'd prefer to do it on something of better quality than paper.

What are my options?  I see that I can do a vinyl printing at Staples for under $13.  Is this the best option?  It seems that it might be a flimsy solution.  What experience do you guys have?

Best gift ever...
If you've seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, there's probably one scene that really sticks in the memory. No not that gigantic boulder tumbling after Indy, nor when he shoots that sword-twirling nutter in the market square, nor even when he has that uncomfortable staring contest with a cobra...

So I've missed my regular weekly game night two weeks in a row and I'm in withdrawal. The wife actually noticed that I get grumpy when this occasionally happens.

I never realized missing this weekly meeting had an impact on my family. It's not much of an impact but the fact that it's noticeable is funny to me. Being one of my only hobbies and the fact that it's my only "me time" all week, I guess this makes sense.

So, I was wondering if you experience something similar when you don't get to game.

Been there.  BTW, solo play is not a bad thing unto itself.  It's a great way of making fleshed out NPCs for role playing games or learning the rules to a new game before game night.

I found Soldier Kings (http://goo.gl/PhiZKl) in a thrift store several months back.  The manual that comes with it doesn't give a component list so I cannot tell if it's complete.  It looks like it could be missing a few of the scenario cards based on a list I found on BGG.  The box is sturdy but has seen better days.

Anyway, if you want it for a second copy for spare parts or if you're just intrigued, you can have it.  Just pay the shipping and it's yours...

And now for something awesome. Just in time for the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie coming out in August, YouTuber The Unusual Suspect has released a GotG-style trailer... for Star Wars!

Incapable of keeping appointment times, which is unfortunate because everyone in the office is very pleasant. I would have preferred to continue my relationship with Dr. Clarke but unfortunately I experienced numerous wait times of an hour or more past the time I was scheduled for.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting better. The ribs were melt-in-your-mouth, fall-off-the-bone, juicy and tender. It's obvious that a lot of care goes into their preparation. My fault with the ribs is the flavor, or should I say, lack there of. If there was any kind of seasoning, marinade, or rub, it was lost on me. It was simply meat. Again, well prepared...just not seasoned. Subsequently, I added a bunch of their table BBQ sauce which was pretty good. The pulled pork was better, in my opinion. The wait staff was friendly, the atmosphere OK. I wouldn't go here again for the BBQ

I recently purchased a new 28 foot travel trailer from Van's RV but unlike the other George (April 18 2011 post), my experience was positive. My purchase was a result of the February camper show in Hartford. Van's RV reps were on-site and showed me a few models. My wife and I liked one in particular but we were not willing to buy that weekend (we were just window shopping). The rep from Van's RV agreed to extend the "show price" so we could look around a while longer. When we returned to see him a week later, he honored the show price, which was a significant discount from the sticker price. I can say honestly that at no time did we experience any "cutthroat tatics". From a customer service point of view, I've been pleased. For example, you may recall how horrible the winter was this year (lots and lots of snow). I asked if they could keep the RV in their lot until spring. They were more than accomodating. When I finally picked up the camper, I requested to pick it up on a weekend. Apparently they only do pick-ups during the week but they were willing to accomodate my hectic schedule and arranged to have a service rep come in on the weekend for my "walk around". During this time, the service rep identified a problem that delayed my departure for about 45 minutes. Because of the delay, they provided me with a $25 certificate to be used in their camping store. It wasn't much but it was a nice gesture of good customer service. All in all, my experience with their sales, service, and office staff have been fine. I'm pleased with the experience so far.

I recently visited Lake George and ate here two times in August 2011. The first was a quick lunch which was OK. I had a fried fish sandwich. It was pretty good but I noted that the fries seemed like they were waiting around a while. Still, fries don't make the sandwich and I was satisfied. The next night we were looking for another place to eat and ended up here again only this time with the entire family (the lunch was with just my 14 year old daughter, the second visit included my wife and two sons, 5 & 7). We returned because I said the fish sandwich was pretty good. Unfortunately, the return trip wasn't as good. I ordered a lobster roll. It came on a hot dog roll (yes!) but it was not buttered and toasted (no!). Plus, it wasn't a true lobster roll. Yes it had chunks of meat but it was prepared more like a lobster/seafood salad with mayo, onions, celery. Folks, I'm from New England... I know LOBSTER ROLLS, I'm a friend of LOBSTER ROLLS, and you, sir, are no LOBSTER ROLL. And again, I noted that the fries seemed to have been sitting out for a while. My wife and daughter both had the spicy grilled chicken wrap and both found it good. Both visits, the wait staff was slower than I would have liked despite the fact that neither time was particularly busy in the restaurant. So, it was a pretty inconsistent experience. Please note, we were seated outside both times and the view of Lake George is fantastic. It seems to me that the restaurant is blowing a great opportunity serving mediocre food with such a great location. Then again, with all of the tourists, maybe it doesn't matter.
