Worked on this werewolf sketch as an offshoot of another idea I was tinkering with. I liked how the werewolf head came out so worked up this larger, more finished version. #art #sketch #horror #monster #Halloween

Story
Tagline
Cartoonist/illustrator and Mac geek.
Introduction
Humorous illustrator, cartoonist & vector artist specializing in cartoon logos and cartoon character design.

My favorite cartoonists are pretty much anyone from Mad Magazine in the 70's/80s, especially Jack Davis, Mort Drucker, Sergio Aragones, Don Martin. My fave artists are Robert Williams, Alex Grey, H.R. Giger and most of the SubGenius crew.

Besides art, illustration and cartooning, I am also a huge Mac geek and Star Wars (original trilogy) nerd. I dig disc golf, cycling, photography, my iPhone 4 and Minecraft. I also play the guitar and write stoner rock songs. The funniest movie ever made is "The Jerk". The best monster movie is John Carpenter's "The Thing". My favorite music is by bands like Fu Manchu, Earthless, Colour Haze and Clutch. I also love Iron Maiden.

Lots of activities in this park, and it's super easy to get to. Never crowded, but sometimes busy. The Towpath Trail through the park is some of the best biking in the area, and if you want to mountain bike they have that now too. Lots of hiking trails of all difficulty levels. Well maintained. Some very scenic sections, and for the most part it's secluded. There is some intrusion of highways and the noise in some areas. Best of all, it's totally free. The Virginia Kendall Ledges trail is my favorite in the park.

Very cool rock ledges and hiking paths all throughout them. Reminded me a bit of the Ledges at Virginia Kendall n CVNP. Definitely worth checking out of you're local, and worth a small drive for a day trip and afternoon hike.

Chimney Rock itself was pretty cool. A great scenic view once you are up there. But not much to do once you're there. The hike was almost completely man-made structures from what I recall, so it was more about climbing stairs than hiking. A bit pricey for what's there. It was OK. Nothing exceptional. I think I enjoyed the windy mountain road drive to get there from Asheville more than the actual park.

The campsites are literally a 30 second walk from the ocean, and you can snorkel right off the shore. We intended to snorkel once or twice and ended up doing it all day every day all week while we were there. Clean park, secluded and beautiful. The bugs were insanely annoying though.

Clean, quiet and secluded park. The camping situation is a bit odd, you have to drive around the lake quite a ways to get to the the campsites if you are at the lodge. I ended up camping in the nearby National Forest instead. The new disc golf course was still under construction when I was there in 2015 but it was a good course even unfinished.

An interesting place but it's much smaller than its made out to be and in a quite pedestrian and mundane location. Worth a visit if you are in the area and have a curiosity about it, but do not go out of your way to get there. It's a quirky place to stop at for an afternoon, not a destination.
