Guy over on imgur posted his photo gallery of a coop build. Really nice backyard barn style. No plans posted, but if you view the entire series, you get a good idea for the process. Thought you might enjoy.

I had no idea that stuff had a name... and I also regret throwing it out because I didn't know it had a use. :-(

Some beekeeping jobs result in garbage bags full of dark, dirty comb. Such was the case, this past week, when I cleaned out an acquaintance’s hive that had absconded. In the course of processing that comb into wax I came across a word I’d never seen before: “slumgum.” Slumgum is the dark brown sludge made of propolis, larvae parts and dirt that you’re left with once you filter out the wax.

I am fortunate enough to live in an area where neighbors are extremely supportive of beekeeping; alerting keepers to mosquito treatment/spraying, swarms and eagerly purchasing local honey. Recently, I was asked about bee friendly planting and concerns about foraging bees. While, there are volumes published online on the topic in general, this one goes out by request specifically to my neighborhood… inside-the-perimeter Atlanta.
