I watched the sunrise this morning at the Wildlife Works Office in Kenya’s Kasigau Corridor. Its Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project consists of a variety of programs to resolve deforestation and poaching, is supported by Audi as part of its A3 e-tron program.

One of the most unique projects I have worked on to date. And tomorrow I go to Africa for the next story! #audi #csr #energy #sustainability #hybrid
I visited a landfill in the Salt Lake City metro area to help document Audi’s carbon offset program for the new A3 e-tron launch this fall. There I learned how toxic methane gas can produce renewable energy.

I am going to publish a photo book, too. Those that license or have licensed at $100 level or higher will get a copy (http://365fullframe.com/license-photos/).
The 365 Full Frame Project is coming to end. Here is what to expect over the next two weeks.

I begin the long 24 hour journey home tonight to DC. One of my favorite parts of this trip is driving around and within the Saggala Mountain range in the heart of the Kasigau Corridor.  I will remember seeing these purple mountains etched into the Kenyan skyline for the rest of my life.

This precious land is part of the Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project. The innovative Audi supported carbon offset program is succeeding through a variety of economic triggers that incentivize the community to value and protect their environment.

I’ve always seen photos and stories from Africa, usually about individual causes addressing very specific problems like HIV or water.  My current trip to Kenya for Audi has been an eye-opening experience, showing a holistic approach to resolving systematic problems that affect the environment and the communities that live within it.

One example was the incredible World Environment Day celebration I witnessed.  These kids were thrilled and excited to celebrate the environment at their school with a variety of exercises from traditional dance to a soccer match to planting trees. It was just one exercise in the Wildlife Works Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project which also helps women find jobs, fights poaching, provides economic alternatives to deforestation, and offers organic textile products.

Bernard and Evans, two Wildlife Works Rangers, admire a Kenyan sunrise through my camera.  These rangers are part of an 80+ person ranger corps that protects wildlife throughout the 500,000 acres from poachers seeking ivory.

Audi supports the Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project as part of the A3 e-tron carbon offset program (and I am blessed to be here and  photograph this for them). #csr
