Well, took some serious push these few days but I'm finally part of the #PlatinumExplorer Club. Possibly the first Resistance agent in Malaysia to achieve this! Full #SITREP to come after I get some time to rest up and recover ..

Not bad at all, just flip the lower panels around & it'll be a solid UI!

Seems that a lot of great minds are bent towards the same problem facing us.  Namely being the terrible new UX/UI that +Niantic Project gave us today.  After playing with my son today the impact of just how thoughtlessly terrible this change was as I watched my son trying to enjoy playing +Ingress with these horrible changes.

So on and off today between work and other design projects that I'm trying to get finished I examined best usage practices, the usage map that I've seen posted with good to bad UI positioning based on natural thumb/finger placement, and items that I've wanted to see on this screen for a very long time.

So here is my UI Mockup with and without the usage comfort map overlayed.

LOL this is amusing... not sure everyone in the US would find it that amusing especially if they're from parts that aren't as "nice" I suppose....

Kings Landing = Washington, DC
It's the capitol, it's full of corrupt people vying for titles, and it's built on the backs of the poor. Everyone is vying for the Iron Throne and it's hard to figure out who to root for.

Winterfell = Boston, MA
Beautiful in the summer and uninhabitable in the winter. The inhabitants incorrectly think their city is the center of the empire. It is, however, the only real city in its region. (Providence? Really?) The people there are honorable and resilient, and spend much of their time watching sports. Not many black people.

The King's Road = I-95
A highly trafficked route from Winterfell to King's Landing, the road is littered with inns and merchants. There are also many bandits who live alongside it in dangerous places like New Haven, Newark, and Baltimore.

Beyond the Wall = Canada
It's cold, it's vast, and it's terrifying. But the wildlings are a good people once you get to know them. Also it's governed by a monarch far away who doesn't actually hold any real power in the people's minds.

Castle Black = Canadian Border Crossing
This is all that separates us from the unknown terror of the great white north. Also it's manned by a bunch of humorless guys that don't get laid.

The Iron Islands = Pittsburgh, PA
Cold, wet, gray, and nicknamed for metal, this is a place that was once prominent but is now full of working class people and pirates. And the pirates have been horrible for many years.

Casterly Rock = New York City
The regional capital (and the financial center of the Empire), it used to be ruled by a different group - until they were tricked into trusting a foreigner. Now it's ruled by rich people who think they're better parents than they are.

Lannisport = Greenwich, CT
Situated close to the main city, but far enough away that the citizens don't need to be bothered. Also, it's full of money and incest.

Harrenhal = Chicago, IL
It's rich, and it's on the way to most things. But the governing of it seems to be cursed as no one can rule it for long. And it burnt down once.

Valyria = Detroit, MI
Due to its fearsome beasts with great abilities to travel, this was once the center of the world and a shining jewel of civilization. But then a cataclysmic event rendered it a smoldering ruin of its former glory. The only thing that endures is a bit of their ancient music. And the secrets of manufacturing things there have long been forgotten.

Dorn = Napa Valley, CA
Remote area known for women, wine, and boringness.

The Dreadfort = North Dakota
A stronghold of the north but nowhere near as important as the center of the region. And unless you're from here, living here is torture.

Qarth = Savannah, GA
A wealthy port city, the inhabitants think that it's the greatest city that ever was or will be, and yet no one outside the city cares. Filled with many rich creepy people.

The Twins = West Virginia
A location that would be pointless were it not a river crossing en route to other, better places. It's filled with homely women with the occasional hot one sprinkled in. Also, weddings here can get out of hand.

Lys = Atlantic City, NJ
There are two main characteristics: it's surrounded by rough sea, and it's known far and wide for its pleasure houses.

High Garden = Berkeley, CA
In the far reaches of the realm, it is known as a flowery place with lax sexual attitudes. Also a garden of high.

Volantis = Santa Barbara, CA
A rich, old coastal village where the slaves aren't allowed to ever touch the nobility.

Storm's End = San Francisco, CA
A coastal city with a mighty fortress on the Bay. And it's gay friendly.

Yunkai = Reno, NV
A desert town that is known for its sex slaves and incompetent defenses.

Dothrak = Texas
Incorrectly thinks it's an independent country just because everyone there has weapons. Meanwhile most people who live in the capitol are unaware that this is a place.

Vaes Dothrak = Austin, TX
The cultural center of a vast wasteland, where the barbaric activities of the surrounding areas are banned within city walls. Full of people who struck out on their own because they hate their parents.

Red Waste = West Texas
Yup.
If you're from West Virginia, you may want to skip this one.

Mostly reasonable, except for the idea that Boston == Winterfell.  Real Northmen know Boston is deep in the flatlands, where they don't know real winter.

SITREP : Ops Black
Cells covered::AS09-LIMA-08/12/13

TL:DR Version:
7 Onyx Illuminators Minted.
2 Levels gained
Electric fences encountered: 1
Hills climbed: 1
Streams crossed: 1
Total MU: 32,955,291

Distance traveled: You don't wanna know!
Fun Level: Off the Charts!!

With the release of the Illuminator medal, a number of members of Ingress Resistance Johor, had instantly achieved Onyx level as a result of our participation in large fielding ops in the past. Given the fact that 4 Million MU fields was well within our means to plan + execute, we canvassed interested members for a fielding  exercise with the intent of getting some of the their Onyx medals while having a bit of fun at the same time!

Agent @NS1 spent a good amount of time studying the Intel map as well as communicating with counterparts in Singapore and Indonesia looking to piece together a multi-layered fielding plan and extended the invitation for some of our Singaporean Resistance counterparts to join us in this fielding exercise.

A few evenings before the planned operation date, 4 of us, ventured out to Tanjong Sedilli, a sleepy fishing Village located close to the Eastern coast of Johor, an hour’s journey out from us in the wee hours of the night.

Battling network data coverage issues, and while meeting some curious local villagers (whom were educated about the XM Phenomenon & also invited to join us as Ingress agents) whom came over, curious about 4 guys getting busy on their mobile devices standing around in seemingly random spots. Having successfully farmed the keys necessary for the fielding on Saturday, we made our way home, well into the wee hours of the night.

Team briefings & key distribution was completed on the eve of the Operation, with the hours ticking down towards our targeted Ops window the next day: Saturday.

While our counterparts in Kuala Lumpur got busy with their 2nd FS event there, those of us in the South were also buzzin with activity too, albeit in a rather different fashion. 4 guests from Singapore made their way over to join us, and were promptly brought over to our gathering point for a quick breakfast, last minute checks and also car assignments.

Departure time and teams departed with @MiloIce&@LLG2 making the 1 hour journey out to Tanjong Sedili while making a pit stop for some sumptuous Wild Boar Bak Kut Teh (+Joe Philley needs to try this) at a famous eatery along their route.

The fielding teams heading to Batu Pahat embarked on their 2 hour journey out, and were joined by @Cappu from Muar &@jasvin from Kuala Lumpur. Slight hiccups as some of the team got slightly off course and also surprising heavy traffic in the town, especially for a Saturday. nevertheless we were unperturbed as we weren’t chasing a checkpoint, our team made their way over in their vehicles, only to be in for a surprise: the portals were not where they were supposed to be!

The portals were found to have been off their actual locations when they went live, and were scattered across a lightly wooded area just beside a fruit plantation (Photos Enclosed) where there was a small stream even a electric fence, where some of our agents were in for a shock, literally! Thankfully no injuries were encountered

After some trekking, teams manage to traverse the area while getting into position for the fielding to commence. Our first phase fielding got underway, successfully completing 7 layered fields after discovering one of our intended anchors was inaccessible.  We had minted  7 new Onyx Illuminators with this round.

We regrouped, for an attempt to try our luck in completing another 7 layers with the use of a virus to bring the fields down; using a different target anchor and attempt to get a few more Agents their Onyx medals.

At this point, while we had commenced on our 2nd phase of layered fields, a rogue operator of an enlightened account @RSAF149squadron falsified its location at the Southern Anchors in Galang, Indonesia to Jarvis the portal anchors there.

This account seems to be operated by the same person behind similarly named accounts that we had encountered before in the past, when conducting large fielding operations which involved covering substantial portion of Cell AS09-LIMA-13.

Given the presence of the spoofer, we then decided to call it a day, and adjourn for some Foodgress before the teams would return back to Johor Bahru.

Congratulations to Agents @Jennlam, @Windcheam, @Wywy&@NS1 for unlocking their Onyx Illuminator medals, and double congratulations to @K0ni&@heongch for unlocking their Onyx medals & levelling up at the same time!

While there were some hiccups and lessons learnt for future operations, it was nonetheless an invaluable fielding exercise to bleed in some new agents & get everyone a taste of Ingress operations. We might face those who would flaunt the TOS or whatever means to win, but we will always continue to #KeepOnResisting

After years of extensive testing, I have determined the perfect screen size for watching YouTube videos in bed. It's just over 5 inches. Any

Had the Matiz Burger here. My friend had K.B.++. Found it strange that the lady taking the order didn't ask for our preference for the done-ness of the burger patties. That being said, they weren't dry and over cooked to their credit. The Buns weren't bad either. But other than that, while a step up from fast food joints, it was hardly anything to shout about. The Idaho fries were acceptable with the only thing that caught our attention was the Kraze Sauce which while not tasting bad, wasn't something too special other than the fact that we were wondering what it was at first. Personally think one might get better burgers at Fatboys or something like it.

A branch/franchise of the supposedly famous Penang Mamak joint of the same name. Its pretty well kept, i.e. clean enough, and the staff generally are pretty responsive and well trained. That being said, I did find it on the steep side. an iced milo, Maggi goreng & a serving of fried chicken on the side was RM11-12 seemed kinda high, even for Klang Valley.

Pretty famous/Popular for their Nasi Lemak. As evidenced by the fact that prominent people and even former PMs and current prominent politicians have been there for it. Its good, sambal and rice is above average. Friend Chicken is also a popular selection. I recall the Beef Rendang being tasty and not tough to the bite.

Rented their Pro Studio in Mar 2013 and it was a good, quite and had lots of options and backgrounds to photo or videography. Granted I got a special rate, but its regular per hour rate is more worthwhile than most standard studio rentals out there, given you get the run of the place... and their lighting equipment that's there.

Popular joint for Dim Sum, and its no surprise why. Dim Sum is pretty good, even by KL standards and I do have to give props to the fact that they're testing and adding new offerings to their menu. First time I had steamed "pigs in a blanket" aka Sausage wrapped in bacon strips, and they have a fried version as well.
