I don't think it has anything to do with "geeks" par se, but rather being a geek is an outcome of our perceptions and our way of thought. I can recognize spectrum behaviors in everyone I meet and maybe "geeks" just exhibit those behaviors more due to a genetic disposition. Being a father of a autistic son, I can sometimes say to myself "what a strange way to think about something", but I'm also wise enough to know that his struggles and our struggles aren't magical... it's hard. And while I'm optimistic for his future, every autistic child have varying degrees of spectrum disorders. For those parents, it's way harder. With all those reasons, my wife and I decided to only have one child.
