Ordinary Cucumber is Khira. Yellow Cucumber is famous in South India and is known as DOSAKAYA in Telugu. It has two varieties, one which is just bland and the other which is slightly sour. The dal recipe would taste very good if it is prepared with the sour one, because it would have an optimum sourness which is balanced with the chillies and salt. While buying, of-course it is difficult to make out whether it is a bland or sour variety. Just our LUCK!
