Once again my wife helps out with her thoughts on the Huawei P10 Plus along with a selection of photos. I'm looking forward to penning my thoughts too soon.

The Huawei P10 Plus has arrived for review with thanks to Vodafone UK. It feels like that expression about buses. You wait ages for a bus, and then 10 arrive all at the same time. That is what it feels like with flagship phones at the moment. So this is…

So my wife went across to our local church. I've just had a look at her shots and it's seems so close to call. What do you all think?

Four of the top flagship phones. Left to right LG G6, Huawei P10 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the iPhone 7 Plus. I took 2 shots of the local church from different angles using all 4 phones. I have uploaded all photos full size. For both scenes the Huawei…

Left to right. LG G6, Huawei P10 Plus, Samsung S8+ and iPhone 7 Plus. 4 phones that all do the core stuff, yet each have certain bonuses over one another. I'll let my wife work out which one is best :)

As you know by now Gavin likes to photograph our 3 labradors an awful lot. I think they have learnt how to pose for that perfect selfie too. One of the modes Gavin likes to use is burst mode. So Gavin asked me to perform some tests on the speed of each…

Hi it’s Ellie again. I have been using the LG G6 for less than a week and it’s now had 3 firmware updates. With the help of Google Translate I was able to get some resemblance of what was being improved, fixed and added. One feature I spotted on the S8+…

So my wife took several macros shots on the LG G6 and posted the results today. Have a look at her results. My S8+ arrived yesterday and I've seen the same macro shots on the S8+ and they are excellent but not as good as those from the G6. Ellie will try and get these up on Monday so you can see the difference.

As part of my recovery I have to attempt to walk small distances. So we both ended up at the local church and we took photos on the S8+, G6 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone shots were more natural in colour reproduction but the pixel quality was not as good as the G6. Both the G6 and S8+ increase the saturation. In early testing I am seeing better quality from the G6 camera. But there is lots more testing to be done across lots of different scenarios and modes.

Like everything in life, all 3 phones have benefits over each other. There is no clear winner unless you import the Korean G6 (model G600) which has the extra storage and quad dac. The quad dac is important for me as I can use my proper hifi headphones with this phone and they sound amazing. The camera is great too. The G6 has other benefits too. The S8+ is a technological masterpiece. It has everything but isn't a master of any, apart from the screen. The iPhone runs iOS , has stereo speakers, zoom lens that does 2 x optical zoom and all the slickness of apps and iOS (iMessage, FaceTime, etc).

That's my initial thoughts. I haven't spent enough time with the S8+ or G6 to firm things up. I also have the new Gear VR with controller and new Gear 360 so that's adds to the S8+ experience.

Hi again, its Ellie stepping in for Gavin while he’s recovering. I have had quite a bit of fun already with the LG G6 camera but OMG just check out the macro shots. I discovered if you use the manual mode, slide the focus slider to macro you also have the…
