The Kissing Brahminy Starlings at home in Gurgaon

Wishing you a Very Happy Valentines Day. Stay happy, stay blessed, stay together and always stay in love.

The most important week of my life begins today. I’m heading down to the spine institute in Tampa, Florida. For the next three days, I will be undergoing tests for my spine problem related to my neck and if all goes well, I will be undergoing surgery on Friday. I’m keeping a very positive attitude about what is to come and thinking about my family and friends and coming back stronger than ever before.

Life comes to a fool circle as I’m headed to Tampa; Tampa is the city where I first set foot in the U.S. as a kid and where I went to high school. I still remember, when I graduated from high school 25 years ago, it was emotional, as I had made so many friends and have wonderful memories about my teachers and my time there. I had at that time a feeling that one day I will come back to Tampa and that this city will somehow play a very important role in my life.

So here I’m, ready to take on this challenge and so excited about coming back to my old stomping grounds.

An early Valentines wish to you all, I won’t have my laptop with me for the rest of this week.

Brahminy Starlings, at my home in Gurugram, Haryana at end of December 2017

In my latest article, “How to Pursue Outdoor Photography with a Disability” I discuss going through a health crisis as a pro photographer or a hobbyist, it is an issue, which is rarely discussed. I decided to write this article, as this is a matter very close to my heart. I want to address two major issues, first, is my nature/wildlife photography career over? And second, how can I work around my disability and continue to pursue my passion?

All of the images in the article with the exception of the iPhone ones were made at my home.

Please visit the Visual Wilderness website to read my latest article as well as other great articles by my colleagues for tips and techniques.

I would like to wish all my family and friends spread across the globe, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.

While I did not get to visit Bosque del Apache in New Mexico U.S.A this year as well, I’m sharing an image of a Sandhill crane in silhouette I made there a few years ago. I have sweet memories of Bosque as I got my inspiration to become a bird photographer from this special place and got to travel with a group of special people, who through the course of the trip, pushed me to work hard and not allow anything or anyone to discourage me. You know you all are

Another year has gone battling health issues, keeping me from being out in the field most of the time. However, that did not break my spirit or will. After following doctor’s orders, I’m starting to feel much better. Though I still can’t lift anything heavy, with patience I’m slowly starting to regain my footing and looking forward to being back shooting on a regular basis in the very near future.

I have a new article with new images coming out in the New Year and it is about a subject very close to my heart and my recent experiences, I’m very excited about it and will share the link when it is published. Previously, I have also written an article on how to shoot silhouettes, the article can be accessed by visiting the Visual Wilderness website by clicking the link:

Thank you all for all your support, Love and Regards.

Fire-tailed Sunbird assuming breeding plumage in its habitat, Tumling, Singalila National Park, Darjeeling district, West Bengal, March 2016

Fire-tailed Sunbird assuming breeding plumage in its habitat, March 2016

As much as I like smooth backgrounds behind the birds I photograph, I really like the textures and colors from the shrubs and the flowers in this image. With the background slight visible, it gives a good feel for the habitat as well as a painterly effect.
