I have a mini photolab, an AGFA d-lab2 to be more specific. For the last year one edge of my prints have had a small silver of white where the laser wasn't hitting the paper and exposing it.  This is caused by the print engine not being level, maybe it doesn't have to be exactly level but for sure it needs to be the correct tilt to not have the white sliver. (As an aside this white silver is why you can get white borders on your prints as an option.  The white borders mask the sliver.)

My current problem is that when I have 40m of paper the paper jams in the printer.  That's like $100 worth of paper, so I'm loath to throw it out just to save myself the heartache of paper jam after paper jam.  The solution to the paper jam is to adjust the height of the print engine.  There are 4 screws that adjust the height of the print engine.  They also adjust the tilt or levelness of the print engine, so you do have to be careful.

After days of working on this thing, I managed to quadruple the size of my white sliver from 1 mm to 4 mm and still have the paper jam.

I bought a level to try and position it correctly, but just made things worse.  I decided to "George Costanza" the whole situation and do exactly the opposite of what my intuition was telling me.  My prints no longer have the unwanted white border, so I am celebrating.  I don't know if my paper jams are fixed, but I need to take my victories where I can get them.

Now I just have to fix the two or three other problems with my printer, and I'll be all set.

Nikon had this set up at CES in Las Vegas. I can't really imagine building a rig like this for less than $30K so it isn't really that crazy of a thing to have, especially if you can rent it out once a month.  You could probably shave quite a bit off if you found a solution that uses cheaper cameras.

The Politics of Prejudice: How Passports Rubber-Stamp Our Indifference to Refugees http://www.neatorama.com/2015/12/08/The-Politics-of-Prejudice-How-Passports-Rubber-Stamp-Our-Indifference-to-Refugees/
The history of passports was already interesting, but with the plights of Syrian refugees in the news and the debate over immigration in the US, those official papers take on even more importance. Passports and visas are official permission for people to move from one place on earth to another, which is a strange custom when you look at it from an extraterrestrial’s point of view. The process for issuing those papers has never been totally egalit...

Josh has asked me numerous times to watch the motorbikes on YouTube so I thought I would take him to some real races.
