On the plus side, Thomas - those are issues that we in the UK can only dream of having. We get BBC iPlayer, a couple of other basic apps and that's your lot. There's so much potential for the Apple TV, and I do love mine. But we really need content producers to drop their barriers as to how you view their content. For example, British Telecom have snapped up rights to half of all English Premier League games and all of the UEFA Champions League games. So how can I pay to watch those? Well, I have to cancel my existing broadband/phone line deal and pay them off about $1000 for the remainder of my contract. Then I have to take out BT's broadband and phone package. That's an unrealistic demand on my finances. And it drives me nuts. So what do I do to watch the games? I watch illicit streams and pay nothing. It's crazy. BT could put their sports app on my Apple TV and I would gladly pay a reasonable monthly fee. I'd even jump through all those hoops you just described. So the Apple TV may be flawed. But it's the content producers that are frustrating me.

I'd read presumably the same couple of articles that declared Flickr dead. I have lost count how many pre-emptive obituaries I've read for Flickr over the years. Yet the place, for all its warts and faults, has always been the finest all round photo sharing site.
