In a press conference this morning Janet Yellen conceded that inflation may be weaker than Fed officials have anticipated, a development that could lead to a more gradual rise in interest rates due in part to "subdued inflation". She added that the Fed should be "wary of moving too gradually".

What did I have to say on the subject not too long ago?

Today on twitter - @JesseLivermore shared Arthur Schopenhauer, closing paragraph of "On the Sufferings of the World", 1850. Schopenhauer is one of the deep thinkers that I regularly quote. If you'd like to dive deeper into my take on Schopenhauer read my blog showing Gracian – Schopenhauer – Jung – Drucker – Kierkegaard – Borges and who they admire...and why:

When I find myself inspired to think more deeply about particular subjects, I often find myself going back to some of the world’s great philosophers. Socrates and Bowie! Turn and face the strange, see what I mean:

Geographic inflexibility can be a real problem affecting homeowners and job seekers. I came across some interesting research that explored how damaging it was for underwater homeowners in terms of limiting their geographic flexibility to seek out employment and how this impacted their long-term earning power.

Can we be both realistic and optimistic at the same time? See how my son's high school basketball team showed that there are negatives of positive thinking.

This week the statue of Robert E. Lee was removed from it's pedestal in a Dallas park named after the general. The process was monitored by an art conservator and the statue was lowered onto a flatbed trailer for transport to an abandoned naval air station owned by the city of Dallas thus ending the controversy that began a few weeks back. Here's the blog that I wrote with the historical perspective as to why the statues were erected in the first place. It might surprise you:
