I recently purchased an Acer C720P, and there have been a few times where I've seen a brief graphical glitch of a single horizontal line across the desktop wallpaper for a second. It happens after closing a window. I can move the mouse up and the mouse cursor does not break up on the line which would be the case if the screen was actually having the issue. It seems to be a line on the actual wallpaper for a moment. It quickly disappears. Has anyone else seen this bug? I have reported it to the Ninjas and they had me do a recovery but sporadically it shows up for a brief moment (maybe once a day during use) I've seen it on both Stable and Beta.

I'll have to keep an eye out on ours to see if it does it.. What would be curious is if you hooked it up to an external monitor or TV and it did the same thing.

I've looked online and others have reported seeing this on the C720 and the Toshiba models. It never happens when I have a browser open. It only happens on the wallpaper on a blank desktop after I close a window.

Yeah I've seen it on mine although not nearly as frequently. Maybe 3-4 times since I've owned the device (2 months)

I've seen the same on my C720. Appears for just a second or two then gone. It's a rare occurrence so I can't complain too much.

I can confirm this. It happened seldom on my c720. I tried different wallpapers with no luck, just saw this lines when closing windows for a few seconds. But after switching to beta and then back to stable, the effect disappeared. I use my c720 every day and couldn't see that lines since that switch.

+Gary Anastasio At least 4 weeks. I use the device on a daily base to write articles and do photo retouching. Never saw that lines again. It's really a bit strange. Do you have still that effect on the latest stable channel?

+Benjamin Stocker-Zaugg I was getting it on the most recent stable channel. I just changed channels last night and then went back to stable to see if that helps. It definitely sounds like a software bug. Maybe with the Acer video driver. Hopefully it will be resolved. I hate weird glitches on my devices.

Me too! It's disturbing. But I'm sure this will be fixed. The C720 is a great Notebook.

The flicker description reminds me of what happens when my desktop's graphics cards are overclocked or have refresh rate issues.  I'm sure it's a software fix if it can be traced / reported and duplicated.

Guys, please report this (if you haven't already done so) via Alt+Shift+i.

+Mike McLoughlin and +Benjamin Stocker-Zaugg  Reported and working with a Google engineer on the problem via email. I was having the issue on both stable and beta. I did a Dev channel to stable switch and haven't seen the issue in a couple of days which makes me happy. We shall see.

+Gary Anastasio Ah if your are on Dev 36 then that explains it. Although 36 is shortly about to move to Beta, it would still be expected to have some flakey elements.

+Mike McLoughlin  I was on stable and also beta having the issue. I pushed to dev and then went back to stable and haven't seen the line... yet.

This is the response from Acer when I posted to their support forums:

"This is an interesting issue that I had not heard of before. After researching the issue, it seems like something in the OS, and not a problem with the Chromebook. I suggest you contact Google support to see if they have a solution, or possibly another Chrome OS user may have an answer for you."

FYI - I did a channel swap to Dev then back to Stable and have not seen this issue since last Thurs. I'm crossing my fingers!
