Still worried about where the money is going to come from to shore up the massively underfunded NHS? You should be.
The right-wing media relishes exposing charity “fat cats” and highlighting galling examples of luxury and excess in the not-for-profit sector. But there’s one fat-cat charity scandal these outlets have ignored. In Britain today there are hundreds of private clubs. They are often blessed with manicured lawns, sumptuous historic buildings and state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facilities for the enjoyment of members. Many offer expensive act...

Woman Walking, Woman Crouching

My last photo share for today is a beachside picture, shot and processed street style. Two women, so different and yet so similar.

The Minimal Beach Hut

Beach huts are usually bigger than this, amiright? So it wasn't any big surprise to see that many of them were being used by canoodling teenagers, as evidenced only by the feet sticking out of the other side.

The source doesn't give any advice about this one other than, "be careful out there", and doesn't say how.

Windows Updates don't come with pop-ups. Always handle them through Update and Security in the Action Center and you should be OK.
A security researcher for AVG has discovered a new piece of ransomware called Fantom that masquerades as a critical Windows update. Victims who fall for the ruse will see a Windows screen acting like it's installing the update, but what's really happening is that the user's documents and files are being encrypted in the background. Philip Lewis has been banned from voting in the Labour Leadership election. His Twitter bio reads:

"Philip Lewis Camden UNISON Health & safety Officer & Vice Chair Unison NHSC"

So, why was he banned, other than because of his support for Jeremy Corbyn?
Just a short piece about my suspension and my support for Jeremy Corbyn

"Some people have raised concerns that snooping through the social media accounts of tens of thousands of Labour Party members in order to find excuses to suspend Jeremy Corbyn supporters is a deeply sinister thing to do."
The Labour Party purge is getting absolutely ridiculous. Not content with banning 130000 party members from participation in the leadership election out of a fear that they're likely to back Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party hierarchy has set about trawling through people's social media accounts ...

View Along Weymouth Beach

Weymouth has one of the best beaches in England. It's very big and covered in fine sand. Oh, and the light is fantastic. Especially useful for photographers. The sea seems to change from a beautiful blue to jade green, depending on I don't know what. If you stay there, you need a camera on you at all times.

The Swim Between Flag

Back with more photos from my holiday this year. On any British beach where lifeguards are in attendance, you'll usually see two red and yellow flags some distance apart on the sand. The area between these two flags is considered safe for swimming.

Personally, I think they should be out in the water. I mean. Who swims in the sand?!

Amateur photographer for the Creative Commons
Introduction
Now retired, I have worked as a computer programmer, writer, psychotherapist, and more. I carry at least one camera everywhere I go and contribute to society by making most of my photos available on the Creative Commons. Hundreds of websites and blogs have used my photos and you can find dozens of them on Wikipedia.

You can see the best of my photos on Google+ and on 500px. If you also want to see the not-so-good ones, see my Flickr feed. I'm also a fairly active member of the Photography on the Net and Talk Photography forums. I have fun with my phone's camera and post the results to Instagram, where my user name is garryknight.

I also enjoy creating electronica and electronic dance music (EDM) and publish my tunes here, on Soundcloud, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

If you're interested in all things Android, iPhone, iPad, tablet computing, and mobile computing, you should follow me on Twitter. For everything else, add me to a Circle on Google+.

I stayed at the Morven Guest House with a friend in July of 2016. We loved the hotel and especially the light and spacious room which had lots of cupboards and storage space for two people sharing. And the car park never runs out of space either. Room rentals were on the low side, despite the hotel being just a few minutes from the local beach. Weymouth Sealife Park is close by, as is Lodmoor Country Park and the RSPB reserve, and the lovely Greenhill Gardens is a short distance away, with the golden sands of Weymouth beach a little further in the other direction. The Morven is in an ideal location for a base from which to plan days out, being situated a little further out from the more commercial end of town, though a nearby bus can take you there if you don't have a car. If you do, then Chesil Beach, Portland, Dorchester, and the famous village of Cerne Abbas are all within easy reach. The beds are comfortable and the en-suite showers refreshing, and if you don't want the cooked breakfast, there is cereal and fresh fruit available. If you to want explore this corner of south-west England, I recommend the Morven as a very nice place to stay.

If a customer orders eggs on white toast and you're out of white bread you should let them know, not just serve them brown toast. Give them a chance to change their order. This isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened.
