Oklahoma elected officials have passed a law that officially excludes federally approved CBD products from the definition of cannabis — however, the move does little in the way of providing access to CBD therapies as no CBD-based drug or product has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Canadian federal government's plan to legalize recreational cannabis nationwide offers zero amnesty for past cannabis convictions. This is an unfortunate oversight by Canadian officials that will hopefully be addressed later on down the line.

The C.D. Howe Institute, a Canadian public policy think tank, has recommended that the government consider pardoning people with prior cannabis convictions in order to free up necessary resources once the legalization scheme rolls out.

Iowa's Senate has advanced the Compassionate Use of Cannabis Act, which would replace the existing, limited MMJ regime with a comprehensive medical cannabis program. The bill passed through the Senate on a 45-5 vote, but now moves to the House, where support is reportedly uncertain.

Taking the good with the not-so-good: a new Wisconsin law legalizes the use of CBD oil for any medical condition so long as the patient has a qualifying doctor's note. However, all CBD products must be obtained from an out-of-state source — and the majority of Wisconsin's lawmakers do not support a comprehensive cannabis program.
