Now your videos can look better than ever with instant enhancements. Just in time for all those holiday videos!

See +Tim St. Clair's post for a side by side comparison video and more details.  #googleplusupdate
Great looking videos just got easier

We're all taking more videos than ever before, thanks to our mobile devices, but some of them turn out less than stellar (yes, it happens to us all). But starting today, you can make your videos look and sound better with Google+.

I'm excited to announce that now, with one click, you can enhance the lighting, color, stability, and (coming soon) speech in your videos. Here’s how it works:

- Use Auto Backup to securely store the videos you shoot.
- Google+ will automatically analyze picture and audio quality. For best results make sure you have Auto Enhance turned on.  Learn more here:
- When we think we can make improvements, desktop Web users will see a banner asking whether you’d like to preview enhancements.
- The preview will show an instant side-by-side comparison so you can choose to apply changes or stick with the original.

In addition to the videos that Google+ suggests enhancing, you can choose to apply Auto Enhance to any videos you’d like:

- In Google+ on Mac, Windows, and Chrome OS, open a video, then choose More->Auto Enhance.
- In the Google+ Photos app on Android, open a video, tap the overflow menu, and then tap Auto Enhance.

Photo of the Day - October 23rd, 2014 - +Andy Smith

Well, this is quite the stunner, isn't it? It seems that Andy has all of his bases covered with this composition. The long exposure does a wonderful job of letting the water create a leading line through the frame. And that sky couldn't have been better to infuse the moodiness of this photo. Love it!

I've been sitting on this shot for a little while now. This rock was recently "discovered" by Blake Fairey Photography and subsequently photographed by the best of the best local landscape guys.
So as to not have my shot compared to the others so much, I've held off on processing and posting it. I got pretty wet to get this angle with a good swell running and a high tide, but I think the foreground here made it worthwhile.
Anyways, to the photographers who went before me, Sorry for 'comp stomping' you guys, but I had to give it a crack

Photo of the Day - September 21st, 2014 - +Toby Harriman

Despite the immediate vertigo that we get when we see this breathtaking photo by Toby, we can't help but marvel at the unique vantage point of San Francisco afforded here. Dizzying or not, you can't help but appreciate this architecture from above. Nicely done!

Don't Let Go
Ever since I started taking aerial flights over San Francisco, I realized how hard it was to get a shot like this, without getting the helicopter's feet in the shot as well. But If you have the pilot tilt enough. That angle where everything relies on the seatbelt, you may just get what you really wanted, and a bit of vertigo to go with it.

Give more people a chance to fall in love with your photos

Love your photos and want to share them with the world? Now your epic sunsets, favorite landscapes, and beautiful ocean views can be enjoyed by people around the world as featured photos on products like Chromecast or Google Fiber. It’s your chance to let your photos shine and brighten living rooms worldwide.

To potentially get featured, share your best photos publicly on Google+. Not every public photo will be featured, so here are some tips on what works best. The more popular your photo is on Google+ (+1s and comments) the more likely it is to be featured. Also, to be featured a photo must:

* be a landscape oriented photo (horizontal), as opposed to a portrait photo (vertical)
* have a minimum resolution of 1920x1080
* not include people
* not include watermarks or text overlays
* be posted by their owner

The photography shared on Google+ is breathtaking and we want to help you showcase your best shots with the world. Of course, only publicly-shared photos are eligible to be featured, and you can let us know if you’d rather not participate. Learn more here:

Photo of the Day - Oct 22nd, 2014 - +Dave Veffer

We love this image partly because it's a field of giant sunflowers but also because of the great use of the popular tilt-shift effect that you can apply on your images. By doing so, Dave added a sense of depth that is more perceivable because of the narrow plane of focus. The bump in contrast and color saturation also work really well here.

Nice job, Dave!

The Calm Before the Storm

Taken right before the rain came pouring down on us yesterday at the Sussex County Sunflower Maze. I like how the sunflowers seem to almost be ready for the impending downpour.

Photo of the Day - October 06th, 2014 - +Susan Porter

We're suckers for beautiful abstract architectural photos, especially when they're elegantly treated in black and white. By removing color, you're left with simply appreciating the tone and the way the light and shadows play around the image. Kudos to Susan for sharing such a wonderful photo.
