I've just posted new binaries on the G'MIC website, corresponding to a pre-release of upcoming version 1.6.5.2. All seem to work quite well for the moment :)

http://gmic.eu/download.shtml

You should be able to get it and enjoy the new Vector painting filter I've introduced yesterday. Let me know if you encounter any issue during the upgrade.

Note: This is not a final version of release 1.6.5.2. But I found it stable enough to make it available for everyone.

That's very good news!. Nothing visible right now, but it opens new possibilities for future G'MIC filters.

I've been working hard these last days to improve the integrated math parser in the CImg Library (used also by +G'MIC  of course).
Now, you can execute loops directly in your math expressions, with the two new functions for(...) and dowhile(...). As a result, you can use the CImg math parser to compute sequences of numbers with a single math expression.
For instance, the Mandelbrot fractal below has been computed with a single math expression. In +G'MIC  (upcoming version 1.6.5.2), this can be done with a single (long) line of code on the shell :

$ gmic 1024,1024,1,1,"sqrt(zr=-1.2+2.4*x/w;zi=-1.2+2.4*y/h;for(i=0,zr*zr+zi*zi<=4&&i<256,t=zr*zr-zi*zi+0.4;zi=2*zr*zi+0.2;zr=t; i=i+1))"

Isn't this nice ? I see a lot of use for this, particularly in G'MIC scripts as it allows to do even more generic things at the pixel level.

Already one month since the latest stable G'MIC release!
So, it is time for a new one :) G'MIC 1.6.5.1 has been released today.
Most of the filters have been backported so that users of 1.6.5.0 are able to use them, but there are also some improvements and bug corrections that might be of interest.
Enjoy ! And have a nice holiday !

Hello, you would be interested to add a similar terrain generator like that to GMIC ??? (The third button from the bottom list, green button.)

http://cpetry.github.io/TextureGenerator-Online/

I am not a programmer, do not know anything about programming, but I created a project of a terrain generator for one person. I have created 11 palettes with 3 colors each, I'd give these palettes to you if you are interested in adding a Terrain Generator to the GMIC, the paletts are in GIMP format, or at least the HEX code of colors if you prefer.

See them:

http://s10.postimg.org/r08cvctc9/Untitled.jpg

I could also give some ideas of functioning of the terrain generator, options, feedback, etc. It would be simple, not too complicated, but better than the current ones from GIMP (Pattern> Land..., Render> Environment Map...) that frankly, are pretty bad.

Such a tool is very useful for game developers and can help many people they can also be used in Unity, Unreal, etc.

So you have interest ?

And here is another G'MIC tutorial video, this time showing some fun with the recent Deformations / Drop water filter !
That's probably the last time I bother you with this filter though :)
Enjoy !

I'm glad I caught this! I didn't realize how old my gmic install was. Just upgraded and now I have the new Drop water filter. Very well done!

Pretty cool ! The first demo coded in the G'MIC language ever :)

Just for fun.. during my vacations, I've tried to code a 8/16bits-looking intro, just as we were doing it in the good old days of the Amstrad CPC/Atari ST/Amiga demoscene :)
The particularity here is it has been coded entirely as an interpreted script for the +G'MIC language. This is probably the first demo/intro ever done in this language :)

- Check the source code of this intro : http://pastebin.com/iduFkUfZ
- Try it at home (requires the very latest version of G'MIC installed), by typing this on a shell:

  $ gmic http://gmic.eu/bbq_intro2016.gmic -run

(the script has not been particularly optimized, so it may run slower than in the video shown below).

Anyway, that was for sure a lot of fun, as well as my small tribute to these good old times !

So, after playing with the cool new features of the math parser (planed for the 1.6.5.2 release of G'MIC), I've been able to create the first image filter that uses it. It will be available in Artistic / Vector painting.
Not available for the moment (or at least, not working for older releases), you'll have to wait for the official 1.6.5.2 release.
I'll try to release a new version 1.6.5.2_pre including this filter tomorrow, if I get enough encouragements :)

(no just kidding, I'll post new binaries tomorrow if no bugs are found since then!)

Interesting tutorial!

In this video I used the brushes mode to paint the portrait of a girl with modified G'MIC filters, ("Ink Wash" and "Smoothing"). I then applied the filter of Gimp "Nova Line".

I'm back from vacation ! I've already started to work on the next G'MIC release (which wil be numbered 1.6.5.2), and posted today new pre_release binaries, available by default from http://gmic.eu/download.shtml.

Also, we've recently received enough donations to renew our domain name and the web hosting space for the next year. So, thanks again dear Friends for your support ! Now, we are back to work with the goal of building an essential free tool for image processing and libre graphics :)

+Patrick David has opened a G'MIC forum on +pixls.us for us.

https://discuss.pixls.us/c/software/gmic

I'll use it now for posting details about the new releases, as it is way more convenient than the Flick forum I used before.
Come and join the discussion! You can log-in using various services (Yahoo, Google,...), that is very convenient.
