New feature: when searching for attractions, hotels, restaurants in "along the road" mode you can now decide how far from your proposed route Furkot should take you. If you have plenty of time spread out your searches (that is: select wide 20 mile range) and if you're on the clock tell Furkot to stick to the route as close as possible.
Try it at least once before you declare your trip plan finished! We'd be surprised if you don't find something unexpected.

When you share the trip with friends and family you can now decide if you give them full access to edit the itinerary, or if you just let them to see all the details without the right to change anything.
All invitations are now sent by default as view-only, but you can change it before sending the invite. And you can change your mind later after your invitation is accepted.

New feature: view-only, look-but-do-not-touch mode is here.
Past trips are by default displayed as view-only. You can change that, but you cannot change the past , so why not create a duplicate and plan a new version of the trip for the future.
Present and future trip are by default editable, but you can lock them once you are done planning.

Furkot displays travel dates in the PLAN drawer. Using real dates in Furkot means:
- avoiding crowded weekends - Furkot can even display Saturday and Sunday dates in red if you want;
- always arriving before sunset - both sunrise and sunset time is displayed for each stop of your trip;
- no time zone change surprises - even in tricky places (Indiana and Arizona - I'm looking at mean you);
- knowing what clothes to take - open the stop to see average temperatures;
- booking hotels with confidence - forget about fat fingering that date in the hotel booking form we fill in the booking details for you.

Pro tip: once you're ready to book hotels/campgrounds filter out other stop type for the streamlined Plan view.

Pro tip: if you don't want to commit to a hotel, a restaurant, or an attraction add it as a Skipped stop. The Maybe button is displayed when your mouse hovers over the item in the Sleep/Eat/Find drawers.
Skipped stops show up on the map but Furkot doesn't add them to your itinerary. You can quickly include a Skipped stop (click the stop and press the Visit button) and see how it affects your schedule.
And yes, Undo and Redo works when you want to toggle Visit vs. Maybe.

Take your friends with you. Even if they have 4 legs. Or a tail. We don't judge.
We do help with finding a pet friendly lodging though. We have a stash of over 30 thousand of them for you to pick from.
Traveling with pets requires a fair amount of planning. Hotel policies vary wildly and it may be difficult to find suitable accommodations. Furkot can make this process much easier. Start by modifying your lodging preferences to indicate you intend to take a trip with pets. You can do that when creating a trip or by changing settings in the Trip drawer after the trip has been created.

Press 'n' to add a new stop.
Play with 'c' and 'f' to switch between whole trip and stop details view.
Keep pressing 'j' to quickly go through all the stops (or 'k' to go backwards)
'g' and the first letter of the name will quickly open (and then close) Furkot's drawers.

Do you have a favorite Furkot keyboard shortcut?
Do you want us to add any?

We know you are Furkot expert already.
But if you need to get your friend started send them to Furkot help.
Furkot is a road trip planner. It does things that you used to do with a road atlas and a bunch of post it notes. Or - more recently - with a spreadsheet and a bunch of websites displaying maps. Depending on your trip your planning process will differ. What follows is just a suggestion: couple of pointers to get you started. You don not need to follow this process exactly. Great thing about computers is that they do not mind doing stuff over and ...

SLEEP/EAT/FIND allow searches along the route, around the point and on the map.
Tip: drag the search circle.

Introduction

Always wanted to travel across US but were not sure if you have enough time for that?
Did you try to figure out how long it takes to drive from Yosemite to Yellowstone or from Lisbon to Rome?
Did you wonder what is the best place to find lodging on the way?

Start clicking on the map. Choose your destination and Furkot figures out how long it will take you to get there. Set limits on the travel time so none of your sightseeing has to be done under moonlight (unless of course that's what you want). Let Furkot know how long you are planning to stay in one place and watch it recommend the best place to spend the night. Allow Furkot to fill the details of the hotel reservation for you on a booking service of your choice.
