Now easier than ever: translate Furkot and plan #roadtrip in your native language.
Big thanks to +WeblateOrg
Furkot would like to communicate with its users in their native tongues. Translating to different languages is a major undertaking and we can't do it on our own. If you want to help translating Furkot to your language, the good place to start is Furkot translation server: you can check the status of the translation, make suggestions, review and edit already translated texts. Furkot translation server is based on Weblate, a free web-based transla...

Travel modes, routing, personal speed, route edits - everything that you wanted to know about routes.
Routes connect Furkot stops - they represent parts of your trip that you spend traveling: in the vehicle of your choice, on the motorcycle, on the bike, walking, or transferring between places by other means. Routes are displayed on the map as paths in several shades of blue. Furkot can calculate routes automatically or you can shape them yourself. You have a lot of options to adjust the time, speed, road selection and the shape of the route.

Furkot automatically finds an optimal position to insert newly added stops. You can add Boston, then Washington, then New York and Furkot will insert New York between Boston and Washington.
However sometimes you do want to add stops in the specific order: you could always use drag and drop to reorganize your trip, now you can also Append stops to the trip.
Append tells Furkot to add the stop to the end of your itinerary. Save button (or Enter key) tells Furkot to find an optimal stop order,
If you have a stop pinned as the Trip end, appending a new stop won't change that - but it'll send a newly added stop to the last-but-one position.

Whenever you plan a trip with your travel companion, you get notified as soon as they change anything. Your trip will switch into the view only mode to prevent conflicts.
Click the refresh button - just over the notification - to see the changes and to be able to make your own adjustments.
And yeah: it works even if you open the same trip in two browser tabs. No need to worry about overwriting your own edits by accident.

New feature: color your routes.
You can either alternate colors for each day or display road THERE and road BACK in different shades for round trips.
Browsers will remember your choice of map type and your route color preference for each trip.

Put all those spare bedrooms to good use!
Configure Furkot for couch surfing and stay at your friends or family.
Staying with friends and family when travelling may be practical, cost effective and fun. Or it may not be - we are not going to weigh in on that particular debate. But while we don't offer advice on how to persuade your friends and family to have you over, we would like to show you how to setup your trip for that lodging preference.

Small addition in the Day settings: you can now add a comment, a note to yourself or a description of the day.
Just like stop comments, day descriptions will get printed and exported in formats that support it (like GPX). Your GPS device may be able to display it - give it a try.
And should you publish your trip, the day description will be a part of your publicly visible tripshot.
Click on the day in the PLAN drawer to edit its description.

Important addition to all who are planning a bike trip, and to all who drive electric cars.
And let's face it: it's pretty cool even for those who are powered by slightly less Earth friendly means.
Click on any road segment and Furkot will show you elevation profile. Hover over the profile to check out the exact altitude. Watch for the red circle on your road moving in sync with the altitude graph.

Introduction

Always wanted to travel across US but were not sure if you have enough time for that?
Did you try to figure out how long it takes to drive from Yosemite to Yellowstone or from Lisbon to Rome?
Did you wonder what is the best place to find lodging on the way?

Start clicking on the map. Choose your destination and Furkot figures out how long it will take you to get there. Set limits on the travel time so none of your sightseeing has to be done under moonlight (unless of course that's what you want). Let Furkot know how long you are planning to stay in one place and watch it recommend the best place to spend the night. Allow Furkot to fill the details of the hotel reservation for you on a booking service of your choice.
