http://www.funkytownphotography.com/blog/sweet-victoria-city-hall-wedding-anna-hendrik/

Let me begin by saying that I had the greatest time photographing this sweet wedding at Victoria City Hall. Anna & Hendrik wanted to have casual and fun photographs of their beautiful family while walking towards the Empress where they were going to celebrate with high tea. The rain didn’t stop the kids from splashing, jumping and playing throughout the city and we were so lucky to have the rain let up to put the umbrellas down and take a few portraits. Anna & Hendrik, it was an honour to photograph your wedding portraits. A huge congratulations! #empresswedding #cityhallwedding #victoriawedding #yyjwedding

I'm very excited to launch my new Fine Art Family & Children Portrait website and journal.

MORE ABOUT YOUR BOUTIQUE PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE

When you look through your old albums or the framed pictures on your mother’s stairway, chances are you have feelings that are different than anything you experience looking at a screen. That’s why I truly believe in the importance of creating real printed heirlooms. When your preview photographs are ready I’ll come by your home (or we will video conference) and we can decide what prints will look best on display or in a storybook album. You will love it when your photographs are already framed, matted, laid out and sized perfectly for your space.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What should we wear?

You don’t have to match. In fact, it will look more authentic if you’re wearing clothing that reflects each of you. Anything simple and timeless will work great! I’ve created a helpful Pinterest board so you can see what I mean. 🙂

Where are you located? Do you travel for portrait sessions?

I am based in Victoria, BC and I frequently travel throughout Vancouver and Vancouver Island for portrait sessions. I also spend a few months every winter in beautiful Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and I’m available for portraits of you and your family enjoying your vacation in the jungle or at the beach.

How does it work if we want to have you photograph us on analog film? Can you still fix blemishes?

I’ve recently fallen in love with authentic, analog film and select families are now opting to have their sessions captured with this timeless artform. The quality of the grain, as well as the ethereal pastel tones simply cannot be duplicated by any digital camera or filter. Because film lends itself well to lots of light and looks best with open-airy spaces, I only offer it with outdoor portrait sessions. I work with an incredible lab that will produce high-resolution, printable scans which makes it easy to do any retouching that may be needed. If you’re interested in having your portrait experience on film, please inquire and we’ll design something incredible! View the film journal for inspiration.

Where should we have our portrait session?

We can choose a favorite outdoor location, your home or my gorgeous natural-light downtown studio loft in Victoria.

What if my baby is fussing and needs extra time?

I want you to be THRILLED with your images. I always pad in extra time to allow your baby to nap or feed. And my experience with weddings also means I’m super fast and stealth when it comes to capturing toddlers.

Do you offer hair and makeup services?

Absolutely! I’ve even teamed up with an incredible fashion stylist named Khloe Campbell (of Amelia Lee Boutique in Victoria) who can create a dream look for you and your family! Check out our recent styled editorial to get inspired.

Do you photograph large groups or events like a family reunion?

Absolutely! Please inquire and tell me more about your event!

I don’t have time to come into your studio to choose prints. Can you come to me?

I believe in making the process of choosing your artwork as effortless and easy-going as possible. I can come to your home and consult with you about what will look fantastic in your space and we can design a custom collection. I’ll then take care of the rest (creating the canvases, and framing your prints) so you don’t have to lift a finger.

How does it work if we don’t live in the same city as you? How do we choose our prints?

No problem at all. We can meet by Skype where I’ll walk you through everything. You can also take me on a video tour of your home (or send me pictures) so I can help you design something amazing. Your artwork can be shipped almost anywhere in the world.

Do I still receive digital files?

My primary goal is to give you incredible printed artwork and albums that will last a lifetime. You do have the option to purchase digital photos from any of your favorite images, but you’ll find printed products are a better investment. And if you’re excited to share your photos on social media, you’ll also receive web-sized versions of every image you choose to have printed.

I have recently fallen in love with authentic, analog film. The quality of the grain, as well as the pastel tones in the highlights simply cannot be duplicated by digital. It is in a league all its own. The film I use lends well to natural light imagery and it is silky, rich and beautiful. These sessions are slower and more intentional, lending well to artwork for your home.

"“It is SO special to have such amazing photographs that represent my family so perfectly, to see the people I love most in the entire world in these beautiful images that will preserve our memory of this time in our lives forever. I am not sure how you were even able to focus on my six year old daughter, who ran and jumped and pranced along the beach the entire photo session. But somehow you did. And you captured perfectly my daughter’s loving and energetic spirit. Each photo of Maya literally represents her exactly as she is in our every day life.” — The Baltodano Family

Along with some rebranding for my portrait photography, I've been researching the best brands and stores in my local area - those with a commitment towards sustainable fashion. You can find a new growing directory of some great stores for ethical shoppers in #YYJ #shoplocal
