Corporate IT at UCPH is taking over DIKU. As part of a common naming strategy all email addresses and department domains at UCPH must be subdomains of ku.dk
. This raises the question of transferring management of diku.dk
, DIKU's domain name dating back to the introduction of the internet in Denmark, to a DIKU community group so also previous, present and future faculty, alumni, students, and partners can retain their affiliation, and previously web-accessible materials are preserved for public access.
My impression is that this transition to Corporate IT with its attendant disruptions and restrictions (e.g. allowing only accounts by current employees) is a general trend. What are other institutions doing? Any recommendations for a simple cloud service that would let a volunteer association manage diku.dk
email-adresses and mailing lists?
