With the acquired skills through RIDS-Nepal's training courses the local people dig their own Village Drinking Water System pipe line canals with the correct depth and width to bury the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes so that the water flowing in the HDPE pipes never freezes throughout the year. This not only empowers the local villagers by being able to dig their own HDPE pipe line canals, it also makes them proud of their own work and new gained skills.

One of the important tasks at the beginning of any Village Drinking Water System Project in partnership with a village community to identify the daily water demand an average family has for drinking, for personal hygiene, their cattle, watering the greenhouse etc. This is so that the right water source can be identified and tapped into, so that even in the driest time period of the year each family can be provided from the water tap stands in the village with sufficient water every day of the year.
