Senseless and barbaric, like any "tradition" involving hunting and/or slaughtering living creatures. No further comment. #tweet4taiji

A excellent article how it explains the practice of the killing and how it would be illegal even in Japanese law to kill cows and pigs this way. #tweet4taiji
Carl Safina says the process used to kill dolphins in an annual hunt in Japan cruelly prolongs their pain

Sadly there are still countries, advanced countries, where people are on their own when it comes to getting an effective treatment when they are hit by grave illnesses..

We are lucky that our Dad's still with us, thanks to what was then an experimental, and individually unaffordable treatment. This was made possible purely because we were lucky enough to live in a small country where the health risks, as well as the benefits of high quality medical care, are shared as fairly as possible.

Let's close this loophole and stop cancer from snatching Dominique away from her loved ones and friends. She is just my age.

A dear friend of mine was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She's an amazing woman, and her family & friends are trying to raise money to help with her medical expenses.
If appreciate it if you'd share this link..

GEM ALERT!
Some of these tweet anagrams are just mind blowing. :-)

Identifying tweets that are anagrams of each other = pretty cool!

Aaarghhhh... Now that you're mentioning, there's no need to go back to the Cold War. I am still utterly annoyed at the "Liberty fries" and the hundreds of bottles of superior French wines grudgingly poured into US sewers. Just because France was among the countries that had the gall to question the pretty mainstream US propaganda machine about Irak... Well? [Crosses arms, taps foot, and pouts]

If you had told me during the Cold War years that one day in the near future Americans would not only be watching Russian propaganda on their televisions, but lapping it up like cats at a bowl of cream, I'd have laughed in your face. But here we are. What most disturbs me about the trend among left-leaning viewers (and sharers) is their reluctance to turn the same critical eye with which they examine Fox News on Vladimir Putin's propaganda arm. Even more worrisome is the nagging sense I have that American society has been so inured to agitprop passing as journalism that we've forgotten what genuine journalism should be about.
Nick Cohen: It’s no surprise that the Kremlin delights in piping TV propaganda to the world – it is guaranteed a receptive audience

My goodness... I'd never believed evil can truly exist. Now that I have seen the unforgiving, burning hatred in Robert Blecker's eyes my certainties are a bit shaken. His keenness to punish and inflict suffering seems fueled by the same unwavering hubris that led Inquisition to torture and burn people at the stake. This only confirms how retributive "justice" is a delusional, counter-productive, and immoral construct that only contradicts its very own stated purposes, while not even remotely qualifying as Justice. For the true meaning of Justice stands between the lines of reparation and healing. Our pseudo-justice systems rarely allow for this. Because of people like Blecker, we Humans remain stuck in endless cycles of violence -- and are taught to embrace and love it. Well, hate to break it to you, but that SUCKS, and I won't have any of this BS. Nor should anyone.

Not much to add, really. Except Syria's a mess, all between a rock and a hard place. It's not the good guys vs. the bad guys, but rather cvilians taken hostages and abused or slaughtered in turn by equally devious and despicable fanatic, and barbaric "fighters" on each side. We are culturally unprepared to cope with a situation that does not correspond to the good old binary "Good vs. Evil" model. This may in part explain why we find it "comforting" to concern ourselves with things like Batman, superheroes, Star Wars etc... Their oversimplified premises connect us with the comfortable "Black vs. White, Good vs. Evil..." patterns that we know and are familiar with.

Not an American, but this does have import outside U.S. borders. I, for one, will be watching very closely. Especially after the bullying Switzerland went through about its democratically determined homeland tax policies.

The Constitution was designed to prohibit in every conceivable way known to its framers just the kind of authoritarian intrusion by central government on autonomous self-governing citizens that the Bush and Obama administrations' power-grabbing, privacy-invading nationwide snooping on innocent citizens represents.
