The 3B’s

3 PIANOS ▪ 3 PIANISTS ▪ 3 COMPOSERS
AND THE HENDERSONVILLE SYMPHONY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Jesse Davis, Christopher Tavernier, Vance Reese, Pianists

CONDUCTOR – DR. THOMAS JOINER

5th ANNUAL WORLD MASTERWORK SERIES
BENEFIT CONCERT - FOR THE HENDERSONVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

EMCEE – DARCEL GRIMES – WLOS TV

The Music Foundation of Western North Carolina and Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra Presents a 3-Piano Concert with the True Baroque Sound. Through this partnership, proceeds will advance the performing arts in the local community and region.

The extraordinary “3Bs” concert will feature rarely heard Johann Sebastian Bach concertos written for three pianos, supported by the Hendersonville Symphony Chamber Orchestra.

Even on the world-stage, three-piano concerts of this nature are rare, technically challenging and beautiful beyond compare. The prelude will feature the Chamber Orchestra performing “Johannes Brahms’s – Selections from Waltzes, Op. 39 (arr. Thieriot). It will be followed by J.S. Bach’s "Concerto for 3 Pianos in D Minor". Starting the second half of the evening, 16-year-old pianist Christopher Tavernier of Hendersonville will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Piano Sonata No. 21”. The program will close with Bach’s "Concerto for 3 Pianos in C Major."

Adding to the uniqueness of the occasion, Freeburg Pianos in Hendersonville will provide three “Limited-Special-Edition” and matching Perzina Grand Pianos that will be manufactured and imported from Amsterdam. These instruments will allow for the re-creation of music composed in the Baroque and Classical periods as it was originally intended to be performed and heard. These pianos will be tuned to the "Equal-Beating Victorian Temperament", a tuning method that was preferred in Europe during the 1800s and by many classical performers today. The resulting sound to both the trained and untrained ear is often described as "More Vibrant" than standard tuning used most commonly today.

This imaginative and historically important concert will undoubtedly set new standards of musical excellence in Western North Carolina and far beyond the echoes of the concert hall.
