salvaging an old rhino from a friend to add to my space dwarf army i am working on ... the blue / grey is as much as i could get stripped off ... after a few weeks in some simple green and a ton of scrubbing ... so it is going to have a rough finish once done ...

got the base colors down today on it ... and tomorrow going to work on the detailing and such before i start to ink-wash and weather it more...

A little more playing around with bits to find what else i can use for my Space Dwarves ... working on the heavy weapons guys right now ... so i have missle launchers, plasma guns and las guns ... so 3 varieties to counts-as for what weapons i need and then heavy bolter which works for the 4th

mostly IG related bits .. and then some CSM arms for the longer cross chest weapons.

i have one more drybrush layer to do on the skin and i think it will be done ... then will get back to the purple recessed areas ... started with a dark blue and have a total of about 5 drybrush layers on it so far ... each time mixing a little green into it .. and the last two layers a bit more white with each pass...  last drybrush is going to be real light and just be green ... then it will get a sepia ink wash

well i liked this guy so much i could not wait to get started on him .... going to take me a while as i am deciding on the color as i go ... right now just on the boils and exposed spots ... going to drybrush some dark red on once it dries into the same spots then a medium red and pink ... the skin i am undecided on at the moment if i want to do the tan / grey .. or green for the skin ...

well a friend was getting rid of a lot of his unused warhammer 40k stuff ... picked up these guys along with about a dozen mostly full sprues for chaos and space marines for 35$ ... now i no longer need to make some obliterators ... will have to make a weapon or two but that is about it ...

Well this ought to be fun. A coworker handed me this the other day and asked me to paint it for him. With no time limit on how long it takes and is leaving it up to me on how it will be painted. Never for one of these before.

thanks .. i have it partially disassembled (just the wings, main torso and head are together) so i can start cleaning the sprue tags and deciding how exactly i am going to paint this guy (and what colors) ...

the wings i am honestly intimidated by ... the little feathers are very fiddly ... and they are flexible ... he said i could just remove the feathers but it looks funny without them so i am not sure just yet.

this is by far the fastest i have painted any mini (started on it on the 30th and had the mini finished other then clear by the 2nd)... though i am not quite done ... i can not make up my mind about a few items.

on the metal parts should i go ahead and dull them down like the rest? and just leave the exposed belly and back section glossy? or make the blade shiny like the metal on the arm and chest sections?

of course the flash on the camera brings out a lot of recessed areas that i did not fully get with the drybrushing .. but to the eye they are not noticable.

going to add a little cracked earth around the base of the mini and then likely some dead grass on a spot or two as well.

picked up a bunch of mini's from a friend that is unloading some of his old 40k stuff ... and i liked the demon enough to go ahead and start on him ... will be the largest mini i have attempted to this day.
