I think i have to agree with many things in this article. I listen to the local news for a short time in the morning, that is it.

Ooh, good link. I was debating this with a news junkie friend recently. She's ruining her life stressing about things way outside her control, and about which she takes no action.

The best tech purchase I've made in the last couple of years has to be my #synology  DS211 with two 2 TB Western Digital RE4 drives in a mirrored RAID configuration.

This device has quickly become the backbone of my diverse home computing infrastructure. It provides access to my data from my #windows  desktops and laptops via SMB/CIFS, #linux  servers (hosted on a #vmware  ESXi server) via NFS, Macbook via Appletalk, #xbmcbuntu  set-top media player and  #boxeebox  via DLNA/uPNP. And it just works (see screenshot).

I just noticed DSM 4.0 was released last month. I'm trying to decide if it has any new features that are compelling enough to warrant an upgrade... Does anybody have some hands-on experience with DSM 3.x and DSM 4 that can comment on this?

Interesting tidbit about Android. Fact is, I got my first Android phone during 3rd quarter. I'm quite happy with it! Expect even more now that ICS is out!

So it's not every day you see police officers with Assault Rifles patrolling your street. Turns out they are investigating a guy running around with a gun... :-/

You study for software engineering -- not a niche technology such as Windows Phone.

Interesting pair of infographics. There are a few more stats in there I'd like to have seen -- for example Android sales (given Blackberry and iPhone sales are both listed). Even more interesting would be to see the same thing about the internet in 1996 -- 15 years ago.

Somebody should do something like this every year.

Thats pretty neat. Number of emails seem off. I imagine ~99% or so are spam, automated messages, or mailing lists. Also interesting is status updates approaching search queries-that seems a little odd.
