Media guy, tech visionary, author of a dozen books, entrepreneur that helped start Wired, CNET, Ask Jeeves
Hi! I'm Fred Davis... the geeky one, the crazy one, the one who tries to see around corners! I have spent my life trying to help teach people about tech through writing, magazines, books, radio, and TV. I help create startups. Now I'm focused on helping create the future of media.
I started one of the first commercial plant tissue culture labs when I was 18. I got advanced placement and started college as a senior, getting my degree in a year. I sold my Volvo station wagon in 1977 to buy an Apple ][ ... everyone thought I was crazy. I was editor of the first Apple magazine, A+. I wrote the first book on Desktop Publishing and coined the term. I wrote the first magazine cover story on multimedia. I published one of the most successful CD-ROM titles. I had one the first 100 websites. I live in the future.
