The ancient skulls are larger, their faces are narrower and more forward-projecting, and they more closely resemble native peoples of Africa, Australia, and the southern Pacific Rim than they do their supposed American descendants.
A nearly complete skeleton found in Mexico is at least 12,000 years old, offering insights into the first Americans.

I was thinking the same thing, +Ryan Gallagher... it's been 6 years since discovery and a number of universities have had access to the data; particularly, since most 'reconstruction' is thru computer modeling!?!

A pretty good primer for Linux desktop environments... and which one(s) may be best suited for your machine's capabilities!
Don't know which Linux desktop environment is for you? From Gnome to KDE, from MATE to Unity, there's a lot of choice out there. Where should you start? Windows and Mac both basically offer one desktop interface: the default one. Linux is another beast entirely. You can choose whatever desktop interface you like. Overwhelmed? Here's…

Brain waves can be measured and used to manipulate the world, without anything more than the power of your mind.
Imagine a world where people buy products at the store by waving a hand near a sensor, where people "think" up a business report at work rather than typing one up, and where an augmented-reality gets projected in front of our eyes with specialty contact lenses. These ideas are closer to reality than you may…

I've heard it said that 'social media' is a great way to keep in touch with old friends... if this guy wanted to stay in touch with old friends he'd need a ouija board!!!
Longtime New Yorkers have seen the comings and goings of plenty of bars, restaurants, people and trends. But at age 111, Alexander Imich—as of April 24 officially the world's oldest man—has seen more.

The Apollo 12 Lunar Module, visible in the background at right, landed about 600 feet from Surveyor 3 in the Ocean of Storms.

I have an 'unsophisticated' and 'technology challenged' clientele (and family)... they repeatedly ask 'how do I clean the screen on my computer/smartphone/tablet'? Of course all of us can use a 'refresher course' occasionally!! ;-)
Are your devices covered in dust, fingerprints, and smudges? It's tempting to spray and wipe them down during your next cleaning sprint. Hold on! You may accidentally scratch your LCD, damage your touchscreen, or cause a short circuit. So what's the proper way to clean a dirty screen? The advice you find when turning to manufacturers for…

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, is hard at work on Ubuntu Touch... they’ve even released some images that can be installed on the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10.
We install it so you don't have to. Seriously, you probably shouldn't.

There are still a lot more Kepler 'habitable zone' worlds out there to find. Almost certainly this is not the last one...
It's just a bit bigger than Earth. It orbits a red dwarf star at the right distance. But does it have water?

In my 'spare' time, I do a bit of online selling thru The Phrog Pad stores on eBid - the stores are an eclectic variety of collectibles, brik-a-brak, this ‘n’ that, and from time to time a very unique piece recovered from the corners of the attic or cellar! We are a small family operated web based seller serving the general internet community from Sharpsburg, Georgia. We offer only domestic sales & shipping thru our eBid stores. Sorry, no international sales.

If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.
Introduction
Vegetarian - that's an old Navajo word meaning lousy hunter.

Feel free to repost anything to anyone...

If you have nothing in your Public profile, nothing or little in your About... don't expect me to follow you.

I customarily use G+ to post links of things that are of interest to me, including the future of internet issues/digital rights, politics (US & world), technology, general news and even some mundane and ordinary stuff.

Things I share, +1s and links to outside content do not imply endorsement, but simply my interest in the topic itself.

If you don't like what I post, either have a discussion with me or simply 'un-circle' me. If all you want to do is tell me I'm wrong with no reasonable or logical discourse, I probably don't belong in your Circles. I love a good debate and to hear from people who disagree with me. Opposing opinions make us think!

People who cannot discuss a subject without resorting to personal attacks or belittling the intelligence of others to make a point will be 'un-circled'... no one learns from such actions. We need to be able to openly discuss any topics of concern.

I periodically remove people from my Circles that do not occasionally post publicly. I don't Circle people without some Public posts.  Avatars (profile pic) - It's confusing to keep up with my stream when the same bunch of 'blue heads' are next to posts from different people. What can I say.. I'm old and need visual aids!

I post articles, political news, tech items, opinions etc, not because I necessarily agree with them, but rather because I find them interesting or thought provoking.

My Google+ posts may or may not reflect the thoughts or opinions of myself, my friends, my neighbors, our dogs or cats, and is not for the easily offended or chronically close-minded. If you can't identify sarcasm or are otherwise humor impaired just leave me alone.

Without warning, sarcasm rolls off my tongue without prior approval from my brain.

Don't take everything so damn personal. Learn the difference between sarcasm, smart-asm and a personal attack.

I can assure you 100% that if any of my comments are indeed personal, I will always say so. I do not have a shy or 'politically correct' bone in my body.

With that said, I am a genuinely nice person who truly accepts all sorts of people and personalities. I can find something to like in everyone and believe me, this has baffled my family and friends for a few decades.

Occassionally, my posts will be unsuitable for the overly sensitive person with low self-esteem, no sense of humor, or irrational and/or inconsequent religious beliefs - I am an atheist

For the most part, I am nerdy, geeky, something of an insomniac, military veteran, and occasional blogger. Again, a Warning to those who circle me... I am an atheist, can be snarky and politically incorrect, sometimes post about things you may disagree with.

Be civil, even when disagreeing - no name calling!
If you're going to comment on an article - read it; please don't comment on just the headline.

I do not necessarily agree with every article I post or +1. Articles are a springboard for discussion and/or personal thought.

So... what else? My curiosity lies in these general areas: Technology, Science, Astronomy, Nature, Google 'stuff', art, and Photography. I am definitely NOT fully versed in these areas, but have a curiosity, appreciation and interest that keeps me exploring.

I am NOT a 'conspiracy theorist'; however, I do relish a good mystery!

I always appreciate a good laugh, a secret snicker, so 'Comedy & Humor' is always welcome (nothing is off limits)!!

I find something funny about nearly everything. Probably because I don't take anything personal.

I believe in UFOs - never seen one, but... maybe... someday!?!

I enjoy science fiction and speculation of the unknown.

I have no reason to believe that vampires exist or do not exist - I just think it would be really cool to live forever... to see the passage of decades, centuries, cultures, and civilizations!!!

I'm not a particular Zombie fan, except for The Walking Dead series! Zombies bore me with all that groaning and shuffling... of course, that makes them ideal 'targets'!

I like big dogs, especially Boxers. We currently have two!

We have cats too! The dogs respect the cats! Claws! Cats rule, dogs drool

"The worst lesson that can be taught a man is to rely upon others and to whine over his sufferings. If an American is to amount to anything, he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others; he must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can, and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow men a responsibility which is not theirs." - Theodore Roosevelt
