This morning I attended a course all about getting to know my borrowed country, the Netherlands. It was interesting, enlightening and gave me a new list of places I really want to see... It was also held in an amazing location, the beautiful Het Grachtenhuis museum. If you're also an expat or international resident in NL I highly recommend checking out www.dutch-discoveries.nl for more information!

Cycled into town to see the world's first MDMA shop, open for one day only. Admittedly, more a publicity stunt by the Jonge Democraten to get signatures for legalising XTC but it was very well executed with lots of people explaining exactly why they want the Dutch government to consider it. Who knows, maybe it will be another regular feature in Amsterdam soon...?

Are you a freelancer? Are you thinking about becoming one? Want to know what makes me happy and financially afloat as a freelancer?

Here are the twelve most important lessons I've learned in 3+ years of #freelancing .

I hope it's helpful

http://www.asthebirdfliesblog.com/posts/things-beginner-freelancers-should-know
Over three years ago I left full-time employment and began a new career as a freelance copywriter in order to travel long-terms and pursue my love of writing. I've learnt a lot since then and made a lot of mistakes, so here's a rundown of the lessons I've learned and all the things I wish I'd known as a beginner freelancer.

I'm a Londoner turned wanderer who has been nomadic since October 2011. I write a blog about travel, freelancing and following your dreams. I also write and self-publish fiction. And I write words for websites, magazines, brochures and blogs as a copywriter.
Introduction
I am a self-published author of contemporary fiction and a hyperlocal London blogger (Bird in the Bush) turned travel blogger (As the Bird flies...).

I write stories about special places, genuine experiences, different perspectives and how travel makes people feel.

In August 2013, I self-published my first short story collection called "Shy Feet: Short Stories Inspired by Travel". You can buy these tales of adventure, wanderlust and unusual journeys for just £2.80 ($4.49 USD) from my blog or from Amazon and Kobo.

You can read one of the short stories, called See the Amalfi Coast for free.Download it from here or buy for $1.00 on Amazon or Kobo.
