Elevator Removal
Wow, this process took quite some time because, once again, no allowance was made by the original builder to disassemble components that should be disassembled and inspected regularly.  After lots of drilling, Dremel-ing, hack sawing, etc., I got the elevat...

Trying to Remove the Elevator
This has been a real chore, again because they assembled the hinge points prior to glassing in the elevator, with no access to the hinges whatsoever.  In the process of cutting access to the hinges, I found they used paper towels as filler in the leading ed...

Removing the Rudder for Refurb
Good lord, the more I dig into this bird, the more convinced I am it was built by farmers pulling parts out of their scrap bin.  They must have been going for the 'world's cheapest, flying KR2S'.  LOL I removed the rudder yesterday because the fiberglass wo...

Sorting out the Spaghetti
Man, what a mess this was but now that I have the wires sorted out and labeled, it will be a whole lot easier rewiring the instruments that go back in.  This thing had a ton of over-sized instruments in the panel, primary of which was a combo oil pressure/o...

Straightening Gear Legs
Okay, back to the gear legs now.  Went to Harbor Freight today and bought (borrowed) a 12 ton press.  It straightened the left leg out great.  Had to over-bend it in the opposite direction.  Bolted it back on and now the left side of the plane sits 2 1/2" h...

Pulling the Instruments from the Panel
I can't believe what they used for the panel material.  Looks like 16 ga aluminum sheet with some sort of felt/composite covering.  It's a good thing I paid next to nothing for this thing.  I'll make a new panel - likely from carbon fiber. I may just replac...

Missing Katie
This is the first time since bringing Katie home that I can't walk out in the garage and tinker.  Sheila told me today though that she and her Dad, Dale, will take good care of her until I get back.

Removing Rudder Attach Fittings on Vertical Stabilizer
Dis-assembly on this bird is a real challenge. Apparently, the builder of 858TM never planned to replace or lubricate any of the control surface hinges because they were all glassed in AFTER attach points were installed.  Access points have to be cut in the...

Workflow Engine in GP 2013 R2 and GP 2015
I've seen a lot of activity recently on the Dynamics GP Forum , indicating confusion over what version of SharePoint works with the new GP Workflow 1.0 and 2.0.  Quick answer - none of them.  GP 2013 R2 and GP 2015 both have a native workflow engine built i...

Right Gear Leg
As you can see, the right gear leg was bent more than the left one was.  My brother Mike and my son David both suggested having these legs annealed after straightening, which is a darned good idea.  Ultimately, I think I'll put composite gear legs on Katie ...

The Mystery Behind an Aircraft Instrument Panel
I've never had my hands in this part of an airplane before.  Gonna be fun making sense of the mess and tidying things up.

Race City Heating & Air responded very quickly. Nick Keziah replaced the capacitor on my air unit and had me running in no time. He also shared lots of tips regarding how to extend the life of these 16 y/o units. He really is about educated customers. Thanks Nick and Race City!
