Very well written book. Especially appropriate for children or people who have had no contact with computation in general. And the book contains no computers, it's just a story. ;)

From +Michael Masnick: "Nice going Spanish politicians. Your new copyright law not only makes you a laughingstock for pushing a ridiculous industry-driven legislation, but you've made life worse off for everyone. Citizens lose an important way to find relevant news. Publishers lose a big traffic driver. Open access and digital commons are now effectively dead in Spain as well. Who has won here?"

That is absolutely appalling. It's disheartening to not see huge international news regarding this.

When we told these things to an egyptian colleague, he asked "Is Spain turning into Egypt?"

Short talk covering the purpose of mathematics. Hilarious too :)

Thanks +Łukasz Olejnik for pointing me to it.
With humor and charm, mathematician Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón answers a question that’s wracked the brains of bored students the world over: What is math for? He shows the beauty of math as the backbone of science — and shows that theorems, not diamonds, are forever. In Spanish, with English subtitles.

Humourous as always, this one covers the hugely important topic of Government Surveilance and - dull as the subject may seem to many - this is one of the funniest ones yet.

Thanks +Héctor Urdiales Llorens for pointing me to this!

Very interesting opinion on how ideas compete and cooperate for attention on the Internet. This is strangely reminiscent of Richard Dawkins' concept of meme from The Selfish Gene.

Wow. I'm glad that in Poland you would have to change the constitution to pass such law (that means you would need most of the opposition votes)

I'm afraid I only have 5 stars to give. Tried three different fondues in a large group, all of them were very good. Best of all was the house one, Chaesalp fondue. Very good and friendly service.
