President Obama faces renewed pressure to approve the Canada-to-Texas #Keystone XL pipeline as one of his first orders of business. Do you think it will pass or is it just a 'pipe' dream?

Sounds like a stupid idea after Sandy. Global warming is real folks.
+Michael Pate LOL. Your arguing with a Lib using facts. It won't work. Believe me. I have tried.
Not much of an argument. He posted two wikipedia links that mean absolutely nothing.

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.

This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years
I blame Global Warming for Obama's re-election. Stupid global warming.
Do you really think that we will lower global warming if we don't get our oil here, and instead get it from the other side of the pond?  This pipeline brings with it a ton of jobs.  Oil will not stop getting used or you would stop driving a gas powered car and would be using your bike to get to work.
“The problem is that the private sector is so foreign to our President that he would need a passport to go there and a translator to understand what is happening”.
Bobby Jindal

Oil? Wtf would we need that for? Every car in my driveway runs on algae and Sun power.
Global warning? You mean science? It happens, the world gets hot, then cold, then hot again. The keystone pipeline will pass, though their are several reasons why it shouldn't. The main reason why it will is jobs. He is pressured to pass it because he promised jobs but has no actual plan to create them aside from this pipeline. I hope people realize that the only way the government can create jobs is to make jobs themselves, which means government salaries and paychecks, which means we have to pay more in taxes. Any politician that says they can create jobs shouldn't be elected because it's going to only cost us more in taxes. Obama only won because people want more free stuff at the governments expense. This is no different.
+Bruce Rick Yes it will bring jobs but personally I think the bad will outweighs the good. Even if global warming turned out to be a complete hoax, these things are still unsafe. These  pipelines fail and spill oil all over the place, in Wisconsin, in Alaska, Yellowstone in Montana, and in Africa . It could potentially create thousands of jobs for toxic cleanup efforts.
+Mike D'Agostino , I don't believe global warming is a hoax but at the same point oil is not going away any time in the near future.  Sure, there could be spills, that is a possibility, and there's also possibilities that we get in our car and crash every day or the plan you are in crashes, but yet we still do it.  For me personally, I know a company that is waiting for this to go through because they already had the order for the oil cooler systems sold and the workers lined up for the job.  This will bring in millions plus tons of jobs just for the one company and there will be many more involved with it.
+Marc Rechtenbach I see what you are saying about jobs. And that is exactly what the Libs are really saying when they speak about job creation. Government jobs. But the politicians that I vote for who speak of job creation are talking about doing it with tax cuts and deregulation. If I have more money in my pocket, I spend it on luxury items. Those items need to be make. But if the regulations are too high for a business to open in my neighborhood, then they will move on. Or not open at all.  This is not an overnight issue. It takes a few years to see the effects of deregulation and tax cuts.
+Bruce Rick You're absolutely right. Global warming is not a hoax. We have had global warming and global freeing changes since millions of years before man was even on the planet. The fact is it happens and there is 0 ZERO chance we can ever stop that. It also means that if these global events were happening before man was hear man DOESN'T cause global warming or freeing.
+Hugh Pecon Global warming stopped 16 years ago but somehow North Pole ice caps are the smallest since they were started being watched 20 years ago.... Global Warming? No way, more like your lying eyes are playing tricks on you!
As a Canadian, there are two parts to this. There is very strong opposition to this pipeline in Canada, so even if the POTUS approves it, they still have to get it passed Canadians.
But for sure this is not GW fault, higher temperatures are not required for ice to melt, ice can melt in sub freezing temperatures.... True story!
I don't think anybody intended for this to turn into a "Global Warming Debate" - either way, that oil will be taken and sold.  It's just a matter of to whom, and via what distribution system.  Point is, that oil will be burned, and whatever complaints we have about its contribution to global warming is moot.  It'll burn, regardless.

Niagara Falls is eroding the escarpment by several feet each year.  Yet Canada exploits it for hydroelectricity, despite the fact that it's damaging the environment from erosion.  This isn't a problem because the damage will get done regardless.  If Canada doesn't exploit it, the water will flow regardless.  Same thing about the oil, there will always be customers for it, and it WILL flow, and it WILL burn.  If we can use it to our advantage (responsibly) while there's any oil left, I think we should.  Otherwise China will get it.

Approximately every 100,000 years Earth's climate warms up temporarily. These warm periods, called interglacial periods, appear to last approximately 15,000 to 20,000 years before regressing back to a cold ice age climate. At year 18,000 and counting our current interglacial vacation from the Ice Age is much nearer its end than its beginning.
+Dustin Harwood they should make the pipeline out of nerf.  :-P That would avoid the problems associated with structural rigidity.
Green House gases have effect on Earth atmosphere, do you this this true or not?
I just heard Obama say that the election have him a mandate. So I'd have to say no.
+Sergey Lucktinov  Sergey I think I might have given you the wrong impression. I want a reduction in all pollution. I'm not saying that I don't want limited regulations to make sure we don't pollute our water and air. But to claim that global warming and global freeing is caused by man is NOT true. It was happening before we were even on the planet.
+Mike D'Agostino the point of the two Wikipedia links were we have had big storms before and will have big storms later. You can't argue that every single weather event is caused by global warming. Oh, well, actually you can but I don't find it very convincing and I don't think most other people do either.
Climate change is happening - like it has happened many times in the course of the earths lifetime. Yes mankind has influenced this change, but we really don't know all the factors that influence this change. Example - Mars was closer to earth than it has been in 4000 years in Aug 2009 (if my memory is correct on the year) - the moon influences the tides - thus how could Mars NOT influence this. The solar system takes something like 4 million years to make a full circle within the milky way -- how many climate changes will happen from that fact alone. Yes man has to shape up and care for mother earth.... but I am one of the people who don't blame the burning of fossil fuels as the sole reason for climate change.... Just saying
Hey maybe this can work....

In a stroke of ingenuity that could have proven handy during Hurricane Sandy, four teenage African girls have come up with a urine-powered generator.
Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, and Faleke Oluwatoyin, all 14, and Bello Eniola, 15, collaborated on the invention, which they claim generates one hour of electricity from one liter (about a quart) of urine.
I love it that Fox news fans link to the Daily Mail in a science argument. That's like linking to the catholic church for sexual advice.

You're are a fool +George Rae
He just outlawed some shale technology....OF COURSE he'll keep it from happening: "The Oracle of Omaha" gets money to take the oil by TRAIN where the pipeline would go!
Global warming in a pipe? No thanks. The massively polluting keystone tar sands oils need to stay in the ground. There's no evidence that this will improve domestic gas prices at all. The U.S. is currently exporting refined gasoline and diesel oil even as you pay more at the pump and production has increased.
+Charles Caine Liar.  You're just being an idiot and repeating long debunked bullshit talking points. It's called "Gish Gallopping."

Every bullshit argument climate change deniers use is debunked here:, complete with full references to the relevant scientific research.

You might remember that same special republican math that failed Mitt Romney fails everywhere else too. The real world trumps your bullshit.
Fucking libtards. Move to Europe and leave this country to those who want to see it better.
+Doug Wheaton We are majority, why don't you go to Somalia, I heard it is beautiful place, almost no government at all.

Socialized medicine is the equivalent of a new Mercedes for half the cost of a used Ford Focus. As usual some lying POS republican will deny it using "comfort math" but the real numbers are out there.

A prime mover in the natural climate cycle is the sun. In fact astronomers can now determine temperature fluctuations on the other planets in our Solar System. And when we experience warming periods, so do the other planets as well.

When we are experiencing cooler periods so do other planets. You could also mention that we have been in a gradual warming trend since the Maunder Minimum, the last little ice age that happened in the late 1600s - early 1700s.

Man made is hoax and you fall for it.

+Charles Caine Well, you make it clear why you followed a habitual liar as presidential candidate. You are too. Fellow minions of the Prince of Lies along with +Hugh Pecon.

Repeating bullshit republican talking points about socialized health care is still bullshit. There isn't an EU nation that's willing to give up socialized health care. Not one.
+George Rae

+Hugh Pecon Dude Halloween was last week so put your Dick Cheney costume away.
You started it not me.
+Charles Caine You're a liar. Romney was a liar. Why should anybody trust what the liar party says?

"Washington — The U.S. healthcare system is lagging further and further behind other industrialized countries on major measures of quality, efficiency and access to care, according to a new report from the nonprofit Commonwealth Fund, a leading health policy foundation.

That is having a profound effect on overall health in the U.S., the report found.

Americans die far more frequently than their counterparts in other countries as a result of preventable or treatable conditions, such as bacterial infections, screenable cancers, diabetes and complications from surgery.

In 2006-07, the U.S. recorded 96 preventable deaths per 100,000 people. By comparison, France, with the best performing healthcare system, recorded just 55 deaths per 100,000.

And while the U.S. improved between 1997-98 and 2006-07, other countries made more progress. Ireland and Great Britain, which had higher mortality rates than the U.S., now have lower rates."

THURSDAY, Sept. 6 (HealthDay News) -- About 30 percent of health spending in the United States in 2009 -- about $750 billion -- was wasted on unnecessary services, excessive administration costs, fraud and other problems, a government advisory panel said Thursday.
“We are all born ignorant but one must work hard to remain stupid.” Benjamin Franklin
+George Rae  Working hard
Quoting another liar who wrote a book is still more lies. That's all you have lies.
You know who else knows he's lying about health care? Mitt Romney.

"Mitt Romney seems to be laboring under the impression that whatever he says in a foreign country will—like a weekend in Las Vegas—somehow stay in that foreign country.

Either that or he figures nobody back home is paying any attention.

Speaking today to a small group of Israeli contributors to his campaign, the GOP presidential candidate—and supposed sworn enemy of government controlled healthcare—had kind words for the success of Israel’s healthcare system.

"When our health care costs are completely out of control. Do you realize what health care spending is as a percentage of the GDP in Israel? 8 percent. You spend 8 percent of GDP on health care. And you’re a pretty healthy nation” Romney

A healthy nation, indeed.

With a life-expectancy rate that is the 4th best in the world  (the United States is 38th) and a reputation for delivering high-quality care to all of its citizens by utilizing the most advanced medical technology available in a hospital system we can only envy from afar, Governor Romney is right to be impressed with the Israelis’ ability to deliver excellent care while keeping spending down to 8 percent of GDP as compared to 18 percent here in the United States."
+Hugh Pecon The only reason you libs are the majority is because you've got lazy welfare bums sucking on the government teat.  If those white trash and ghetto dirtballs would get off their ass and pay their own way, we could actually turn this country around.  But they won't.  They're too busy sucking up the rest of the country's tax dollars to pay for their Obama phones and free contraceptives.  Idiots.
Time for a reality check.
It didn't take long after Doug LaMalfa announced he was running for Congress last month before a supporter of his Republican opponents went on the attack, zeroing in on just less than $4.7 million of federal subsidies paid to his family rice farm over the last 15 years.

States receiving the most federal funding per tax dollar paid:

1. New Mexico: $2.63
2. West Virginia: $2.57
3. Mississippi: $2.47
4. District of Colombia: $2.41
5. Hawaii: $2.38
6. Alabama: $2.03
7. Alaska: $1.93
8. Montana: $1.92
9. South Carolina: $1.92
10. Maine: $1.78

Contrary to popular belief, those who make the most noise noise complaining about Federal spending and the programs said spending support, are in fact the same people who collect those Federal dollars and who coincidentally don’t want to give up the programs. Their states; the RED ones… receive more per dollar, than they give,as a recent New York Times article documents–even as fiscally conservative lawmakers complain about deficit spending–their constituents don’t want to give up the Social Security checks, Medicare benefits, and earned income tax credits that provide a safety net for the struggling middle class.”
”Of the 22 states that went to McCain in 2008, 86 percent received more federal spending than they paid in taxes in 2010. In contrast, 55 percent of the states that went to Obama received more federal spending than they paid in taxes. Republican states, on average, received $1.46 in federal spending for every tax dollar paid; Democratic states, on average, received $1.16.”

Welfare queen Montana state Senator  John Brenden (R-Scobey), who in recent times has lined his pockets with half a million smackeroos from US taxpayers for doing nothing, tried Friday to burnish his tea party credentials by lecturing David Ewer, Schweitzer’s budget director, at a committee hearing.  Brenden believes that even though the state has $300 million surplus, we should be cutting education and core social services for the neediest.

There had better be a pipeline. Probably won't happen though.
+Charles Caine Got a beam in your eye there. Shit, you have the whole bridge.

32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34  Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
Acts 4:32-37

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.
4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.
7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
