Congressional Budget Office report warns automatic cuts, tax hikes could send already-anemic economy into reverse unless lame-duck Congress, President Obama can find compromise.

If only we had elected a fully democratic house. Now with the pig-headed republicans in control of the house...again, I am not optimistic about great economic improvement but I am sure Fox will only point the finger of blame at Obama.
I know how you feel. If we just got rid of the Marxist in the White house things would be so much better. So I too am not very optimistic.
Yep, lets let the democrats take over everything and borrow all the money from china to get us out of debt
If only we had elected a fully Republican Congress and White House, and then this crisis could be averted without destroying the economy in the process.  The Democrats will obviously want to raise taxes, and only the 50% or so who pay taxes will be affected; the other 50%, who voted Democratic, will continue to get a free ride.  Thus, the divisions in the country will become ever deeper until we are looking at possible secession by the solvent states (and this is no idle speculation--there's been actual talk of secession among increasing numbers in the "red" states since 2008).
America is sinking fast.  I think only a miracle will save this country.
+Akemi Mokoto Agreed. We just need to make Obama dictator and outlaw Republicans, then everything would be hunky dory.
+Scott Spencer Republicans are continuing their dive into irrelevancy. So, I think they are doing just fine. One more election cycle like this (with Republicans refusing to do any work during Congressional sessions) and they will go extinct by their own hand.
Yeah, you know those obstructionists who prevented the passing of Obamacare, frank-dodd, etc.  Oh wait...
BTW, when is the last time democrats produced a budget?
What a wonderful world when you can keep blaming President Bush then the Republican House of Representatives, then a majority of the American people bought into the lie.
Who needs freedom when we can make Obama the dictator of the world and save us from ourselves.  Freedom is overrated anyway right?  Lets make anyone that opposes what we think is progress a terrorist and just let Obama use his superior wisdom to rule us forever.
I'd say let it happen... If republicans want to dissolve as a party they should not compromise and let the cuts and rates raise happen. Do you "constitutionalists" know that laws originate in congress?
Yep, democracy rules.  Lets tax those wealthy people for all the money they got so we everyone else can have their money.  Those wealthy people don't need all their money anyway.  They need to be force to give it because they are greedy.  Who cares if they earned it.
LOL, Obama talked about shovel-ready jobs years ago, and even he had to admit it was wrong.  And there's no such thing as a mandate from this election.

If you stupid idiots would actually focus on something other than taxing other people, more would get done.
The sad thing I have no idea if Brian is being sarcastic.  Considering the goal of liberals is to steal money they didn't earn.
People that earn a lot of money don't deserve to have that money.
+Spencer Scott Which stupid people are you talking about? Those who believed Fox "News" that Romney will win this election in a landslide? Yes, those are quite stupid idiots.....
Sergey, people like yourself who think taxing rich people will help anyone.
Why do you troll Fox News if you are one of those moonbats who think like that?
Nothing... the rich owe all their money to me.  The rich are just greedy and don't like to share.  Obama needs to make all the rich people pay for being rich and taking all the opportunities from the poor.  We should spread all the money around so no one has to be poor anymore.  I don't want to be free.  I want Obama to rule my life.  He knows everything.  No one should question him.  Its Bush's fault poor people are suffering now.
+Spencer Scott Oh you mean majority of Americans.....  Yes, keep going, soon you will not be minority - you will be history....
Ron Paul says we are fallen over the cliff. What ever political deal is made -- most likely GOP accepts small tax-hike with another promise from Democrats for projected spending-cuts in the out-years -- the free market will determine our national financial future.
+ Sergey Lucktinov I agree Ron Paul is looney, though you must know fiscally the United States can't resume as if it were still wealthy. $16+ trillion debt is a big clue.
+John Yaşar Many more red states receive federal aid than blue states.... So I pay for those moochers....
Im sick of you Democrat liberals Voted Obama back in .. 4 more years of the same SHIT . SAME HOUSE...SAME SENATE ..SAME PRESIDENT and YOU EXPECT CHANGE.. I cant wait until you get what you voted for.. another Bankrupt America 16 trillion in debt . A economy that is weaker then a 1 month old baby .. thank you for the cover up on Benghazi . Thank you for the STOCK MARKET CRASH ... Thank you for the Fiscal Cliff.. GOD BLESS AMERICA ... now I am done . Thank you for listening!
+John Yaşar You know, I had hoped the election results would calm such ridiculous and "moronic" comments.
John, if any State secedes they will be given their share of the national debt. (see what the IMF told Quebec when they want to leave Canada.) They share will be based in population-size not how much they received from the federal tit.
+Dean Marlett-Smith Yes, so lets raise revenue and cut spending to lower debt. That's how it's done, you raise revenue and cut spending.... Republicans however don't want to pay off our country's credit card.
I wonder where states that don't make enough money to cover their spending will find funds to pay off their 50K per citizen debt.....   Good luck becoming banana republic!
You can really tell who's a taker or a faker living on taxpayer money by what side they take in this debate.
What do you expect .. rational you have half the country liberal and the other half conservative.. its not rocket science to figure out that people are NOT going to get along NOR work together . As Bill Murray said in the movie Stripes "thats the fact jack"!
+Sergey Lucktinov yes we were taught US bonds were safe investments. I suggested that was pre-1970s thinking that hung on into the inflationary period since then.
+Dean Marlett-Smith Do you think I'm an idiot??? Republicans were in charge for 6 years having legislative and executive branches under control and they did nothing! Instead they spent even MORE.... Don't tell me these lies, I'm not a Fox viewer to believe without confirming.
Not sure why +Fox News even bothers to have a presence here on +Google+ sorta like a conservative trying to get a fair shake on MSNBC, surrounded by liberals.
I am a lost by Joy's comment toward my concern at fiscal insanity is not rational conversation. while Bush 43 went wild with the spending it certainly didn't give license to condone its continuum.
Another recession? We never got over the first one! Merely tried to cover it over with QE and more QE. Fiscal cliff, what fiscal cliff? As long as the Bernanke is there to print limitless amounts of money we have nothing to fear! Who needs a debt ceiling?! :)
+Dean Marlett-Smith I believe my own research. Both conservatives and progressives are not exactly objective so I take both sides with a grain of salt. Conservatives are bigger liars though, Rush for example claims he is 99.9% right but I caught him myself saying opposite things and I don't listen to him that often. I do however find some parts of conservatism values attractive...
+Robert Miller if only. :) we had nothing to fear bah bah. Anyway, Americans will be learning their Exceptionalism they believed was theirs since the war of 1812 was just spin.
There is nothing exceptional about Americans, I don't know why is it so popular for "patriots" to point it out. There are examples of "exceptional" people in history but they didn't end well, just look at Germans in 1930's, they too thought they are exceptional and are much better than other races....
Lét's solve this problem, it's time for action. Look at China, China can only be stopped if America is strong.
The only way to stop China is to bring our factories back to US and I don;t see that happening any time soon....
This is the hope and change that the American people have voted for. Does this mean that Obama will actually take responsibility and not blame Bush?
+Christian Williams You know what is the most funny thing? It is that if he tries to fix this problem you will call him communist and anti free market socialist.... :)
But-----He is a communist-Marxist-Socialist pig
+Sergey Lucktinov Why be so cynical?  Obama has wasted most of the good will from his first term blaming his predecessor to the point where even his supporters are tired of it.  People recognize that Obama has a mixed record, and had the Republicans brought forth a stronger challenger, Obama would have lost the reelection.  As it is, Romney with all his imperfections almost won.  Blaming someone else has its limits.
+Terry Traub Obama did a lot of things that I'd be happy to fire him for. But republicans never mentioned it! Instead of talking about NADA they talked about this mythical Obama who is revolutionary communist who took over healthcare system.... And don't get me started on your candidate, I bet even he doesn't know what political positions he holds.....
Get centrist candidate who follows 21st century policies (not 16th century) and you'll get WH, I'll vote for him.
+Sergey Lucktinov no he is neither of those. Taxing the hell out of people not the way to do it. Building jobs is what helps the economy grow. For example, that Keystone Pipeline project would create 100,000 job just to start. And local businesses grow around that and more jobs are created. This President hasn't done squat....the media has painted him as the next one to walk on water.
+Christian Williams Stop taking talking points as facts. Those estimates are actually about 2500 temporary jobs and in case of spills federal and local governments are responsible for clean up. Oil products however will not stay in US, they will be sold on global market..... The level of ignorance is staggering, try fact checking everything, no matter where you heard it.
FACT....The problem is that the private sector is so foreign to our President that he would need a passport to go there and a translator to understand what is happening
+Hugh Pecon Strwaman instead of answer???? Ok, I'm sorry I've interrupted you from watching FOX....
Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it.
Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys
+John Yaşar OK, fiscal cliff - there we come. And republicans will be blamed for it...  Soon you'll be third party...
Whatch bet that the House Republicans don't have the balls to stand up to his tyranny!  They didn't the previous 4 years.  They won't the next 4 years either.
You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for. That my dear friend is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it
The $2.07 trillion our billionaires collectively control would not, unfortunately, front the entire $3.1 trillion budget -- which probably explains why the government is going after their Swiss bank accounts, too.
Unfortunately, we could only do this trick once. The very next year we'd be faced with another staggering budget deficit and we'd have no billionaires left.
They won't even have to "divorce" them. The system will collapse. Then no one will have money. How's that gonna work out for the intellectually lazy that still believe in the lie that the unconstitutional redistribution of  wealth works?
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money" - Margaret Thatcher
History will not be kind to Obama or the intellectually lazy that supported him.
This year, Congress will spend $3.7 trillion dollars. That turns out to be about $10 billion per day. Can we prey upon the rich to cough up the money? According to IRS statistics, roughly 2 percent of U.S. households have an income of $250,000 and above. By the way, $250,000 per year hardly qualifies one as being rich. It's not even yacht and Learjet money. All told, households earning $250,000 and above account for 25 percent, or $1.97 trillion, of the nearly $8 trillion of total household income. If Congress imposed a 100 percent tax, taking all earnings above $250,000 per year, it would yield the princely sum of $1.4 trillion. That would keep the government running for 141 days, but there's a problem because there are 224 more days left in the year
In his first public appearance since re-election, President Obama demanded tax increases on families earning $250,000 or more be part of any agreement to reduce the deficit. "On Tuesday night, we found out that a majority of Americans agree with my approach." Read more:

Will a more forceful, mandate-driven Obama be able to get what he wants from Congress?
Didnt Obama mention something about creating a secretary of business? We already have one but he should appoint Romney to that position. Its bipartisan and Romney knows what it takes to bring this country back economically.
People who work full time jobs (no matter where) want to be able to afford the basics, after a hard month of work, without needing government assistance.  People need to be able to afford a car payment of at least $280 a month, Rent of at least $850 a month, food expenses of at least $300 a month, utilities of at least $500, and a remainder of at least 400 to go towards savings or personal expenses. On average, people working 160 hours a month should be making at least $15 an hour no matter what they do.  Believe it or not, this is actually on the low scale when you think about the cost of living in cities like New York and Los Angeles.  The $850 Rent would be a major difficulty, but my example is that of the extreme.   (Read the entire article below)
My employer tells me that by refusing to sign up for their health care plan, now that Obamacare is in effect, the government will be charging me a tax penalty of some $3,000.00 a year, I have to laugh, because even a that cost, I am saving money.  Our average employee takes home about $16,000.00 a year, but basic health benefits to cover the family is $10,000.00 a year through my employer.  Some choice!!!
Hmmmm... So it would seem that the answer is for the government to consume more of America's wealth.

Let the rape of the tax payers begin. BOHICA!!!!
HISTORY SAYS THAT IN EGYPT, The obelisk symbolized the sun god Ra, and during the brief religious reformation of Akhenaten was said to be a petrified ray of the Aten, the sundisk. It was also thought that the god existed within the structure.  The Washington Monument is an obelisk on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate the first American president, General George Washington. The monument, made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss is both the world's tallest stone structure and the world's tallest obelisk, standing 555 feet 51⁄8 inches (169.294 m). Taller monumental columns exist, but they are neither all stone nor true obelisks.

Is it a contradiction to say that America is a Christian nation, knowing that the government, the citizens, and the leaders have embraced pagan structures that were once used for Sun/God worship?  If you are a Christian or a Muslim, what does the Bible or the Qur'an say about such things?
+Saye Taryor What matters is not how much they want to make doing a specif job, but rather how much that labor is worth on the market. If they want more, they need to make an effort to increase their value as a worker. Education, new skills, etc.
