OMG Thank You FOX for warning us of this impending situation . THAT DAMNED OBAMA !!!

Democratic Party playing chicken.

You mean illegal democrat voters!  What a bunch of cowardly, constitution-shredding, group-think puppets in this administration!

A 100% political move. Time to remove the dictator and his Chicago cronies.

Yes ...YES...Lets get lathered up into a patriotic rage!!!!!!!!

Your govt is about to teach you a lesson.  How dare you consider, not even a cut, but a reduction in growth in spending.  They are going to make a huge show out of this when it really isn't necessary, so that people think that cutting is impossible and we can only grow govt.  After this lesson, the hope is that the political will to touch that hot pan again will be gone.

+Steven Swafford and why not, we've got more inmates in prisons than any other country, a lot of them for non-violent drug related crimes. But I'll tell you why they won't free prisoners in state prisons --- many of them are run by private corporations.

The only difference between the current govt and Al Capone is the current date on the calendar.

All the useless money in the federal budget, yet they focus on this.  It's all political and straight from the White House.

There gonna take er jerbs....... Damn it !!!!

The recent Fiscal Cliff Theater "grand compromise" included $220M for rum producers in Puerto Rico and $200M for NASCAR.  I wonder if we might have cut those items before emptying the prisons?

YES!!! YES!!!! ILLEGAL MEXICANS .......And NOW they're letting them go !!!!! What could be worse......Oh Fox, Help me to understand the plight Obama is unleashing with these ILLEGAL Mexicans........

+Jeff Brailey I think you are completely right. Let Obama do his thing. REpublicans will bash whatever he does anyway no matter what

+Guy Bouchard and you care why? This is a political move, and possibly illegal, to get folks in a panic over what is a minor budget cut, from an administration that seeks to increase spending.

WHAT WE ARE ALL OVERLOOKING IS THE FEAR !!!! Thousands of ILLEGAL MEXICANS are being released by OBAMA........THOUSANDS!!!!!! Tune In...Fox will tell us what to be fearful of next.....The Illegal Mexicans and Obama are high on the list........

If you really want to know.......You should Fear FOX..Right wing rhetoric pump.....Its insulting that they report in this manner and horrifying that the fish all bite.

There is no fear...just a sad realization that the white house is run by a twit, who thinks that most Americans are dumb enough to fall for a blatant political move.

Sequester was Obama's idea.  House put up two bills to avoid it, Obama threatened veto.

But hey Fox News trolls, why don't you head over to MSNBC and get your "news" from David Axelrod.  LOL

Now, this is just stupid. I can almost guarantee this is done by order of the Obama Cartel for PR sake.

You can't hold on to illegal immigrants forever. You have to act. Not just put them in jail and forget about them. Like usual, FOX is not telling the whole story is is spreading scare tactic lies. Wake up

Being proud has absolutely nothing to do with anything.  Did someone make them commit crimes?

So tell us Spencer and Steve, do you work for a private prison corporation or just own stock in one?

The United States has less than 5 percent of the world's population. But it has almost a quarter of the world's prisoners.

Indeed, the United States leads the world in producing prisoners, a reflection of a relatively recent and now entirely distinctive American approach to crime and punishment. Americans are locked up for crimes — from writing bad checks to using drugs — that would rarely produce prison sentences in other countries. And in particular they are kept incarcerated far longer than prisoners in other nations.

Criminologists and legal scholars in other industrialized nations say they are mystified and appalled by the number and length of American prison sentences.

The United States has, for instance, 2.3 million criminals behind bars, more than any other nation, according to data maintained by the International Center for Prison Studies at King's College London.

China, which is four times more populous than the United States, is a distant second, with 1.6 million people in prison. (That number excludes hundreds of thousands of people held in administrative detention, most of them in China's extrajudicial system of re-education through labor, which often singles out political activists who have not committed crimes.)

San Marino, with a population of about 30,000, is at the end of the long list of 218 countries compiled by the center. It has a single prisoner.

The United States comes in first, too, on a more meaningful list from the prison studies center, the one ranked in order of the incarceration rates. It has 751 people in prison or jail for every 100,000 in population. (If you count only adults, one in 100 Americans is locked up.)

The only other majo

+Jeff Brailey the illegals are locked up until deportation or settlement of a pending immigration case.

+Tim Pearcy
I know this thread is about immigrants being released from prison. I also believe if prisons in the USA were not big businesses, our immate population would not be the highest in the world.

The United States comes in first, too, on a more meaningful list from the prison studies center, the one ranked in order of the incarceration rates. It has 751 people in prison or jail for every 100,000 in population. (If you count only adults, one in 100 Americans is locked up.)

The only other major industrialized nation that even comes close is Russia, with 627 prisoners for every 100,000 people. The others have much lower rates. England's rate is 151; Germany's is 88; and Japan's is 63.

The median among all nations is about 125, roughly a sixth of the American rate.

There is little question that the high incarceration rate here has helped drive down crime, though there is debate about how much.

Criminologists and legal experts here and abroad point to a tangle of factors to explain America's extraordinary incarceration rate: higher levels of violent crime, harsher sentencing laws, a legacy of racial turmoil, a special fervor in combating illegal drugs, the American temperament, and the lack of a social safety net. Even democracy plays a role, as judges — many of whom are elected, another American anomaly — yield to populist demands for tough justice.

Whatever the reason, the gap between American justice and that of the rest of the world is enormous and growing.

It used to be that Europeans came to the United States to study its prison systems. They came away impressed.

"In no country is criminal justice administered with more mildness than in the United States," Alexis de Tocqueville, who toured American penitentiaries in 1831, wrote in "Democracy in America."

No more.

"Far from serving as a model for the world, contemporary America is viewed with horror," James Whitman, a specialist in comparative law at Yale, wrote last year in Social Research. "Certainly there are no European governments sending delegations to learn from us about how to manage prisons."

Prison sentences here have become "vastly harsher than in any other country to which the United States would ordinarily be compared," Michael Tonry, a leading authority on crime policy, wrote in "The Handbook of Crime and Punishment."

Indeed, said Vivien Stern, a research fellow at the prison studies center in London, the American incarceration rate has made the United States "a rogue state, a country that has made a decision not to follow what is a normal Western approach."

The spike in American incarceration rates is quite recent. From 1925 to 1975, the rate remained stable, around 110 people in prison per 100,000 people. It shot up with the movement to get tough on crime in the late 1970s. (These numbers exclude people held in jails, as comprehensive information on prisoners held in state and local jails was not collected until relatively recently.)

Oh look, another lefty lunatic who thinks "corporations" are the reason people commit crimes and are in jail.

I think the entire point of the news story was the timing of this release. I screams politics.

It is totally political.  Did anyone notice the link text reads "DHS to release THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants, blaming budget cuts"  BUT the article actually reads "DHS releasing HUNDREDS of illegal immigrants, blaming budget cuts"?  Do you guys like that FOX news is totally manipulating you??!!!  FOXes find sheep very tasty!

Matters not how many released, but the reason (budget cuts).
Adam K

Time to round up the masses ourselves.
Ron N

+Jeff Brailey. Or it could simply be that Americans, nay, people in this country commit more crimes.

+Ron N , I'd like to think my fellow countrymen and women are a generally honest lot, but you may be right. It also could be that Americans are more stupid than people from those other countries so they get caught more frequently.

+Alejandro Sosa You are right, Who would want to go to the US. Such ignorant people. And that's why it is a svary place, You can't discuss with ignorant people.

+Guy Bouchard please stay in Canada. After all they have really good..uh...well the weather its...uh..ah hell, you're fucked.

+Tim Pearcy hey I'm Canadian.. And Im conservative... I know.. One of the very few

+j kleine  not directed at you sir...but the whole topic wasn't about cons/libs anywho. It is all about the issue up there 60+ replies later...

It is Obama's doing, 100%.

+Sam Falcon who's afraid of FOX NEWS. I think its the best comedy network on TV after the Comedy Channel.

So the Gastapo is going to release the worst of them to try and scare us into submission - big deal. Most will land in LA, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, or NYC. Let Jerry, Raub, and Bloomberg, worry about them. Yet again the Tyrant and his Brownshirts have to resort to scare tactics while accepting the accolades for his Media run Ministry of Propaganda.

Well known by who, the viewers of MSNBC? ...anyone who takes the word of any Media outlet is a partisan simpleton. Go and gather every source available, remove partisan filters, ignore any indoctrination, and try thinking for your self once in a while with an actual critical mind then just maybe a clearer picture of a situation will form. Dropping agenda driven filters helps a great deal as well.

Pretty funny that they scream budget cuts before it even happens.  So does this mean that if the sequester doesn't happen they will go get all of them that they released?  It's obvious they wanted to release them to begin with.

Nothing more than political theater, but it accomplishes two things.

1. They get these illegals back on the street gaining their support and throwing an appeasement bone to the amnesty crowd.

2. The Obama Cartel continues to beat up the GOP with "see what happens with budget cuts".

If we are gonna do this shouldnt we just go ahead release the crimanals that are already citizens too how stupid is the white house these prople are here illegall and criminals too its bull shit and they need to ne deported any one who cany see how stupid this is and cant open there eyes to the truth about obama and eric holder is truly as stupid as they are

So, this amounts to 2% cut in GROWTH. The fed gov will still spend 15 billion more this year than last. Why can they not offer the same level of service?

They need to be warned not to knock on doors! In case they missed it Uncle Joe recommends buying shotguns and firing through doors!!
