Pope Benedict XVI hit his head during his March 2012 trip to Mexico, The Vatican said Thursday, but denied the accident had any relevant role in his resignation.

Good riddance to the Saint of Child Molesters.

+Matthew Agnich Is that really necessary? What a sad life one must lead if all they have left is to leave pointless, negative comments on the internet. Whether you're Catholic or not/religious or not doesn't matter. You can still be a decent human being and choose to keep the filth to yourself.

Maybe he should have believed hard enough to continue being the voice of his (and the Jews and the Muslims) god on Earth.

+Amy Morales Agreed.  Be sure you report his comment for abuse (flag in the upper-right of his comment when you mouse-over it)

It's a shame Archbishop Ratzinger decided to keep the Catholic pedophile filth to himself. This Pope had direct knowledge of and a hand in moving pedophile priests around the world in order to avoid prosecution and justice for the victims.
This piece of shit chose his Institution's legacy over protecting innocent life.
He will rot in Hell if Catholic dogma is true. But he'll probably be fine since Theists just make it all up as they go along.

+Matthew Agnich For someone who has so much disdain towards the Church and its Pope, why do you even bother to post.

Do you really think that your diatribe is going to convert people to your point of view and reject the Church?  Or, are you simply having an emotional outburst to help you in whatever emotional need you have......

+Jason ON What does truth and hating have to do with the emotional outburst by Matthew?

Why can't he exercise his freedom of speech without such responses, +Michael Gaskin? It's not about converting people, it's about expressing an opinion that also happens to be true.

Wow talk about denial... +Michael Gaskin  and +Mike Moreland  and +Amy Morales
"It happened at St. John’s School for the Deaf in St. Francis Wisconsin under Father Lawrence Murphy.  The case was well known for decades as the victims told police, Nuns, other Priests etc..nothing ever happened. Eventually Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI received letters about Father Murphy in 1996 from Archbishop Rembert G. Weakland of Milwaukee. The then Cardinal Ratzinger "sat on the case" refusing to act and covered his failure to do anything by saying that the deaf community needed “a healing response from the Church.” Then Cardinal Ratzinger dropped the case when Father Murphy died in 1998, he died a priest, for two years he stalled. Back in 1998, the Church was more concerned about protecting priests then minor children...as for justice and biblical teachings? As they say in the MOB, "forget about it".

Sorry, this Pope was part of the system, he did cover-up for a Priest who had molested over 200 Children...and deaf ones at that. He deserves no "Special" respect and should be held to an even higher standard given his position.

+Jason ON What does your response above have to do with your original response to me...about hating the truth.  What in the world are you talking about?

Of course he can have an opinion...His opinion was expressed like an 8 year old...that's fine and dandy. Also, I have the right to respond to him as well....which I did.

Pointing out the truth about a scam artist when the prevailing winds blow towards praise is as useful as comments get.
He deserves no praise and no positive thoughts in the wake of his resignation.

+Peter Combs You are in error... I've never spoke about anything other than the silly antics of Matthew.  I have an opinion about the issue you described, but it was not expressed here; therefore...you are assuming.

My point +Michael Gaskin  is, the current Pope is a bum and should have been de-frocked, as should have hundreds of others....I wasn't inferring anything , only bringing it to your attention in support of the Pope's critics..

+Michael Gaskin
You can try to belittle the posts all you want, but the truth will prevail, regardless of how deep you stick your head into the sand.
Protecting countless pedophiles from criminal and civil prosecution is why Ratzinger will always be a Saint to Child Molesters

Of course you don't...not at all surprised...but you should.,.especially if you call yourself a Christian...

+Michael Gaskin, the original comment of yours I was responding to admonished +Matthew Agnich for his views and you suggested he shouldn't post, probably because you disagree with his take on the Pope:

_why do you even bother to post.

Do you really think that your diatribe is going to convert people to your point of view and reject the Church?  Or, are you simply having an emotional outburst to help you in whatever emotional need you have......_

I questioned your hating his right to freely express himself.

You then asked what the truth has to do with an "emotional outburst." I replied that his outburst was the truth:

It's not about converting people, it's about expressing an opinion that also happens to be true.

It's called reading comprehension.

+Matthew Agnich If you made a rational presentation of your point of view I might engage in a discussion with you...but, reading your original and subsequent posts leads me to believe its not worth the time.

+Jason ON Let me try to simplify my presentation to you.... I am not calling into question his point of view, I am calling into question his presentation....that... perhaps...maybe... if he presents his opinions like an adult more people would engage and have a fun and interesting discussions.

+Michael Gaskin  Thats interesting (your last post to Mathew) you were equally dismissive of me as well...and mine wasn't an emotional "outburst"...as you call it..

Can I assume you simply do not care about well reported and admitted facts from within the Church?

+Michael Gaskin
So he saved countless child molesters from spending the rest of their life in jail getting beaten by the prison hierarchy. So he's not a 'Saint' to the most vile among us?
He sure sound like their savoir to me. Thus fitting the definition of a saint, therefore solidifying the moniker Saint of Child Molesters.

+Matthew Agnich  its all about denial, which is how tens of thousands of kids were allowed to be molest and rape for centuries...well also coupled with intimidation, fear and if needed bribes...

If ANY Organization or Corporation had EVER been caught with this kid of stuff going on, going this far up the chain of command, they would be seized as a criminal enterprise and liquidated...and sent to prison. Its that simple...

+Jason ON You are a bit obtuse...AND I should have been more clear... you are right.  But, in re-reading my original post my thoughts were....wow.... is Matthew really wanting to discuss the issue or just ranting.

+Peter Combs When someone already assumes my position about a subject...yeah... I am dismissive.  He should attempt to understand my point of view before assuming my stance.

+Michael Gaskin, there was nothing wrong with his presentation. Aside from this line *This piece of shit *, he didn't say anything that wasn't true.

+Jason ON Oh my goodness... Maybe you are that obtuse!!!  You really think his presentation will solicite thoughtful responses?  And, start a discussion to sway people to his point of view?  Really....?

I think you responded and we've hence had a discussion. Granted, the discussion was about your desire to defend a supporter of child molesters, but hey, we are who we are.

+Jason ON And?  So?  I have been saying the same thing from the start...  This is the final time.

If you want people to come to your position you've gotta try to appear rational.  And this statement below:

It's a shame Archbishop Ratzinger decided to keep the Catholic pedophile filth to himself. This Pope had direct knowledge of and a hand in moving pedophile priests around the world in order to avoid prosecution and justice for the victims. This piece of shit chose his Institution's legacy over protecting innocent life.  He will rot in Hell if Catholic dogma is true. But he'll probably be fine since Theists just make it all up as they go along.

is not a rational presentation.  If you believe it is...wonderful and I know not to have fun and interesting discussions with you.

Rule Number One: an ad hominem attack on an person and not a opinion is the flag of surrender, most often anyway...

or you have guys like +Mike Moreland  who suggest reporting someone for their ideas....

Its his opinion....I wouldn't use those exact words, but it wasn't an ad hominem attack on anyone here unless the Pope is here posting...

+Michael Gaskin
What part isn't 'rational'?
Because I don't think the word means what you think it means. There is nothing irrational in that statement. Hate for a child molester protector is perfectly rational. The fact that religion is man made and is made up as history moves along, also completely rational.

+Michael Gaskin:

Archbishop Ratzinger decided to keep the Catholic pedophile filth to himself True or False?

This Pope had direct knowledge of and a hand in moving pedophile priests around the world in order to avoid prosecution and justice for the victims. True or False?

This piece of shit chose his Institution's legacy over protecting innocent life. Aside from the "piece of shit comment" True or False?

He will rot in Hell if Catholic dogma is true. True or False? (Of course, there is a lot of child rape in the Bible, so that  may actually be Church dogma.)

But he'll probably be fine since Theists just make it all up as they go along. True or False. Hint: True.

Looks rational to me. And before you go all "your definition of rational must be..."

ra·tion·al
/ˈraSHənl/
Adjective
Based on or in accordance with reason or logic

Did the Pope cover up, or turn a blind eye to, priestly sexual abuse while he was Archbishop and possibly bishop? Yes.

Did he move priests around to avoid prosecution? Yes.

Did he choose protecting the RCC versus morality and ethics? Yes.

If Christian dogma is true, does this violate Jesus' teachings about righteousness? Yes.

Of course, the big Christian loophole is all you have to do is ask to be absolved of your sins and your in. So you can pretty much do whatever you want in life and ask forgiveness on your death bed and you'll be fine. I'm sure as Pope, Benedict knows this already and may be counting on it. Heck, I'd go so far as to say all priests know this already and are counting on it.

+Jason ON Re-read my final statement...Or, you can continue to attack an argument that I am not having.  Where's Peter the logic police when we need him!  <grins>

I've been talking about presentation... Again, if you feel that the presentation by Matthew will engage people in thoughtful discussion in an attempt to move those people to his point of view, more power to you....  Cya!

+Michael Gaskin
Keep avoiding the facts. I will not censor myself to comfort your ignorance or over-sensitive sensibilities.

Also go ahead and learn the definition of 'rational'

+Matthew Agnich <laughs>  You don't even know if I am ignorant or not because we've not discussed your highlighted issue.

I also said this:

I am not calling into question his point of view, I am calling into question his presentation....that... perhaps...maybe... if he presents his opinions like an adult more people would engage and have a fun and interesting discussions.

You have a right to your point of view, thankfully we live in a country that allows us to do what we're doing...my only comment from the start was to suggest that perhaps...just perhaps... you might actually win people over to your point of view if you presented a little differently.....

In the future though because of this exchange I'll simply keep my suggestions to myself because we've wasted a little too much time...... cya....

+Michael Gaskin  I was ordering my lunch...

So I can assume you have no problem with my contribution of facts here, but take exception at +Matthew Agnich 's style of presentation and wording, though none of the criticism he expressed was towards anyone here on his reaction to the original post?

Regardless of wording however offensive it may seem to some, no one here was called a POS. Just the Pope...a title, based on his behavior as a Cardinal is well earned.

+Peter Combs Of course not... post your facts all you want.

Anyway... Enjoy your lunch... I am as well!

+Michael Gaskin
Fine, but stop mis-using the word 'rational'. I believe what you were looking for is 'civil'.
Which I would agree I don't care for cause the uncivil don't deserve civility in response to their actions.

+Peter Combs Sorry I wasn't clear on my reason for reporting a post.  It wasn't because of the ideas being expressed.  It was for the use of the inappropriate language and calls for injury to another.  I'm all for the public discord to express ideas, as has occurred in this post.  I just wish it could happen with more respect for the audience.

Well, at least you got my point...
Have a fantastic day, everybody!

+Mike Moreland at the point you commented about reporting, no one had mentioned any bodily harm to anyone, nor had any bad language been used other than good riddance, which I personally wholly agree with.

Perhaps your personal views of the Pope are providing him with a lot more respect than he has deserved in a very log time..The man should have been de-focked in the 1990's for blatant dereliction, instead they made him POPE..how sick is that?

Yay !No More Popes! That douchebag PROTECTED CHILD MOLESTERS!

+David Essex
Unfortunately the Holy Mafia, I mean Roman Catholic Church, will find a new Pope before Easter.
Hopefully it isn't the Saint of Child Molesters part Deux.
