With only one month to go until Christmas, it's time to start thinking about holiday music for your flute ensemble!

A wonderful Christmas carol, this transcription of the original four-part vocal score works particularly quickly and easily for a student ensemble because of the lack of rhythmic counterpoint and the alluring ostinato that ties the piece together structurally.

Click the link below to view a full video preview of the entire score, including audio, and download and print the PDF file instantly (for only AU$2.50).

(Don't forget that at Four and Twenty Music purchases include generous licensing; print as many copies as you need for yourself, your studio, or your ensemble.)

Have you seen the latest addition to our catalogue?

Uploaded earlier this week, our adaption of Telemann's Concerto in A Minor (for five flutes with piano) is an excellent piece for a flute ensemble with a few advanced students who need something more challenging.

Check out the full video preview of the score at the link below & let us know what you think!

Last week we heard from Jay, whose Somerset College Senior Flute Ensemble won the open instrumental section of the Gold Coast Eisteddfod with our arrangement of 'Finale' and Brett's original composition 'Ants in the Anteroom'.

She says: "I even had people from the audience coming down who I had never met before saying how much they enjoyed the Ants piece. But most importantly the students really enjoyed performing it." (You can read her full story on our homepage.)

Awesome news; we love hearing stories like this one! Congratulations to the Somerset College Senior Flute Ensemble on their performance!

Mozart wrote these two minuets when he was just 5-6, but you don't have to be a child prodigy to enjoy playing them! http://ow.ly/vvqne

Lots of new pieces uploaded this weekend including Eine Kleine for 2 flutes, alto flute & bass flute and several original compositions. But I think Brett's "Terra Porcus" has my favourite composer's note: "The title of this work came about through the attempt to interpret a misheard word from the back of a concert hall. It was worked out, following a vigorous research campaign, that the word in question was in fact ‘funambulist’. That’s another story, but I was delighted to discover that the phrase ‘Terra Porcus Lux’ is a genuine piece of ‘pig’ Latin used (unofficially) to refer to Groundhog Day. With apologies to Punxsutawney Phil (now reported to be over 122 years old) I offer these three portions to virtuoso violinist, and qualified chef, Doreen Cumming." http://ow.ly/qFklv
