If a person brushes their teeth but does not floss, 40% of the work required to remove sticky bacteria, or plaque, from your teeth is missed. Plaque generates acid, which can cause cavities, irritate the gums, and lead to gum disease. Floss is the only thing that can really get into that space between the teeth and remove bacteria!!

Everyone knows about the importance of brushing our teeth (we hope!). But, the question is, how long is good enough?
Dental professionals advise two-minute brushing for a thorough teeth cleaning. With the right technique, 2 minutes provided just the right amount of time to cover all tooth surfaces thoroughly. So, if you do not follow this rule, it's about time to adjust your habits! Happy Brushing!

Most people are shocked to hear this, but going to bed without brushing your teeth is like going to bed with ROTTING FOOD in your mouth. How can that be? Every time you have a meal, the bacteria that naturally reside in your mouth feast on the food you eat. Just like every other living organism, these bacteria excrete waste after a meal. This waste is highly acidic and breaks down tooth enamel, causing root decay and cavities. Make it a habit to brush AND floss before bed to decrease cavities and periodontal disease and sleep with a clean mouth!

From soda to ice tea to wine, many drinks are naturally acidic. Some drinks also contain added citric acid for flavor. Acids act to dissolve calcium and phosphate, two minerals that strengthen teeth. That can cause the enamel to wear away, which makes your teeth more sensitive and prone to decay. Experts say you should wait half an hour – or better yet, one hour – after consuming acidic food or drink before brushing your teeth. That’s because your saliva contains enzymes that can help repair some of the enamel damage.
