So fun to see Margot and Jonathan's wedding from last September at Foreign Cinema featured on bridestory over the weekend! http://bit.ly/1EJVahu
A Sweet, Intimate Wedding in San Francisco - Bridestory blog. This sweet couple went back to where it first started by having their intimate wedding held at their first date location. It is a brilliant choice, because their wedding is romantic and deeply meaningful. Take a look at the pictures of this San Francisco wedding taken by Gladys Jem.

Hypothetically -- if you had to choose between only drinking cocktails or wine this year, which would you choose?

Foreign Cinema is a place where you will always enjoy every dish served here. I remember when they first opened in the Mission District and they continue to serve outstanding dishes, oysters, delicious brunch menu and amazing dinner options. Recently went back for a very late brunch and ordered half crab along with a side egg and dangerously delicious bacon and topped it off with a great cocktail! Always great ambiance, service and location!

I am somehow always disappointed with my meal at Foreign Cinema. I have heard such great things from so many people, but every time I have come, the flavors are just okay. I will credit Foreign Cinema for teaching me that pork can be eaten medium rare, if it is high quality pork, though! Who knew...

I went here for dinner to celebrate my roommate's 31st birthday, which was last year. Our table wasn't ready yet, so we waited got some drinks at the bar. I ordered a Riesling upon recommendation of the bartender. And he was spot on with what I wanted: Riesling that was fruity and sweet. Unfortunately, that's all I can remember because of the wine I had at the bar before dinner, the one bottle I shared with the rest of the party, and the other bottle and carafe I shared with only two other people.... I just remember that the food was delicious, and the wine was divine. And also that our waiter was hilarious! One of the invitees flaked, and our waiter literally said "Who does that?" Because it takes at least a month to get a table. He was pretty cool. Other than the food, my favorite part of Foreign Cinema is the decor. The inside is modern yet warm with the wood finishes and soft lighting. But the outside area is so romantic. Hanging lights, a black and white movie projecting in the background... It's such a beautiful atmosphere. It's a wonderful place for celebrations, or a very important date night. It's been a year too long, so I need to come back soon.

Good food, horrible service. Not only is it slow, but also surly. The waitstaff acts like they have way better things to do than take care of their customers. After waiting over half an hour for the bill, I had to approach the waiter and hand him my card. After 15 more minutes, I noticed he finally had rung it up but was running other errands. I approached him and asked him for the bill, and he told me to sit down and he'd bring it by the table. After some arguing, I just took the bill and went back to the table. He came by to reprimand me! When I called the manager, she was very defensive and didn't try to address the problem.

What a treat! Foreign Cinema is a romantic spot, great for a date night and surprisingly quiet. I would highly recommend sitting outside. The food is very inventive with a daily rotating menu. I especially enjoyed the duck and pork chop, but you really cannot go wrong. Be sure to save room for the dessert because the pot au chocolat is amazing!

Pros: ---Brunch--- [5 stars] - French toast (sweet and custardy mmmm) - crispy duck leg confit (so tender and juicy w/ crispy skin!) - croque madame (juicy ham, perfect egg yolk) - Four Barrel coffee (bold and flavorful dark roast) - St-Germain cocktail (lightly sweet with clear Elderflower flavor) - awesome server who refilled my coffee 4 times without me having to ask - hostess took a ton of photos of our group even though she was busy :) ---Dinner--- [4 stars] - king salmon (wow. so tender and buttery) - beautiful outdoor patio - the owner/manager was walking around and even stopped to talk to us and take our picture! Cons: - super rude hostess from my first visit, but this time EVERYONE was really nice :) - brunch here kicks dinner's butt Bottom line: Come for brunch!! There are so many choices and everyone in my party of 8 enjoyed every dish we ordered. One of the best brunches I've ever had-- I probably won't return for dinner, but I can't wait to brunch here again!

It's best for brunch. Dinner here is good as well, but they have a good brunch menu with great bloody marys. The bloody marys are pretty expensive compared to other places.
