So fun to see Margot and Jonathan's wedding from last September at Foreign Cinema featured on bridestory over the weekend! http://bit.ly/1EJVahu
A Sweet, Intimate Wedding in San Francisco - Bridestory blog. This sweet couple went back to where it first started by having their intimate wedding held at their first date location. It is a brilliant choice, because their wedding is romantic and deeply meaningful. Take a look at the pictures of this San Francisco wedding taken by Gladys Jem.

On July 2nd, a group of friends and I went to Foreign Cinema. Our reservation was for the dining room and as such we were unable to see the movie and feel the atmosphere that inspired the name. If possible, I would recommend holding out for a patio reservation for the full effect. As far as the food, it was amazing. I had the tomato soup with toasted coriander seeds. I wanted to lick the bowl when I was finished. I also had the mozzarella plate with slices of nectarine and cantaloupe (sans olives). Although it's not my favourite, the cheese was soft and fluffy and paired really well with the fruit. A friend of mine had the duck and I wish I had tried some of it. Even several days later they were still talking about how wonderful the duck was and how the entire plate worked together to create a divine combination. Next time I'm in San Francisco, this place is a mandatory stop.

I would like to start off saying the table had mixed reviews on the food - my mother would have given this a 4. Let's start with the pro's: The restaurant is beautiful and feels incredibly relaxing and bright- you feel like you are outside. The Bloody Mary is outstanding - one of the better ones that I have had. The oyster selection is great; a bit pricy, but well worth it. We also got the Warm Goat Cheese appetizer and it was very good. Now, the cons: service is very slow. It took quite a while to get both rounds of drinks we ordered. I got the tuna salad sandwich, I did not enjoy the seasoning on it; however, my sister had half of it and thought it was very tasty. The fries that came with the dish had clearly been sitting for a while and were cold and under seasoned. My brother has the ham and gruyère sandwich with bechamel - can't believe I am saying this based on the ingredients, but it lacked flavor and depth. Overall, it was pretty average, but decently priced. The ambiance is incredible and did have mixed reviews. I think I would recommend for someone to give a try - possibly they just had a miss in our table.

The atmosphere is amazing; it's a beautiful restaurant. The service was great and very professional. Overall the food was okay; wasn't blown away, but enjoyed my meal. I recommend checking it out simply to enjoy the ambiance.

My favorite spot for a fancy date night is in F.C.'s courtyard after sunset when the movie has started. The flicker of the screen and not-too-loud drive in style speakers are like rose colored glasses for a romantic evening. The ambiance is more of the star than the food to me - I somehow find the starters more flavorful and inspired than the mains, but I love coming nonetheless.

Went there alone so I sat at the bar. People there are very chilled and friendly. When it comes to food, you have to be adventurous to enjoy it, because even their fried chicken is everything but traditional.

Space is really cool, but had a horrible experience with one of the servers. He was extremely rude, not helpful, and very snobby. Also, none of our entrées came out at the same time (at least 5 mins apart). Very disappointed with this restaurant - we will not be visiting again.

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. The only downside here was that the food took forever to come out. We had been seated for 1.5 hours before the main meal arrived.

Classic movies projected onto an outdoor brick wall , string lighting, great food (brunch and dinner), and good service makes for a wonderful night. Foreign Cinema is one of those quintessential SF restaurants that you have to try at least once. Having been there three times, I can say that it's one of my favorite restaurants in this city. Dinners are romantic and brunches are fun. They have great cocktails and you really can't go wrong with any dish. I especially enjoyed the Sticky Bun and the Robust Persian Omelette. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that eats and likes food period.
