Peach season is upon us! Once you've had your fill of pie, smoothies, and peaches for snack, make sure to put a few up in fruit juice to make those cold winter days just a bit more delicious.
Tweet This post is sponsored by our friends at MightyNest! Read through to the end for details about a giveaway worth $200! There is a park near my apartment that hosts two weekly farmers markets. I almost always go to the Saturday market, but often miss the mid-week one. It takes place on Tuesdays from …

It's spring! Celebrate with a batch of low sugar strawberry vanilla jam!
Tweet Last Friday, I stopped in to Reading Terminal Market to see Annelies and pick up a few things. While there, I wandered by the Fair Food Farmstand and commented on the gorgeous, fragrant strawberries. In response, the operations manager Anne, offered to sell me a flat of seconds*. Cheap. I am unable to resist …

I'm out and about a lot this weekend with the new book! If you live near Hatboro, Wyebrook Farm, Jenkintown, or Havertown, make sure to come out and say hi!
I've got a full weekend of events in store today, tomorrow, and Sunday (and Monday, too)! Here's where I'll be! Friday, June 6. I'll be at the Hatboro Farmers Market tonight from 6-8 pm, demoing the Honey-sweetened Strawberry Jam from Preserving by the Pint. The demo will be set up on the front ...

I'm going to be out and about all over the Philadelphia area with the book this week! Here's where you'll find me!
I've got a hearty handful of events happening this week and I hope some of you will come to pick up a book or two. You probably know this already, but both Preserving by the Pint and Food in Jars make excellent Mother's Day gifts. On Tuesday, May 6, I'm doing a small batch jam demonstration and ...

Think fancy nut butters are the sole territory of gourmet markets? Make this roasted cashew and coconut butter and have your mind changed forever.

Great site!  The Canning articles are very useful.  I am always cooking a storm in my house and because of that I make my own broth, tomato sauce, and salad dressings (that way I know it's healthy for my family and me).  I do a lot of canning in my house.

Thanks for sharing your Canning advice.

It's the perfect spring preserve for strawberry lovers who don't want to just make jam.
Tweet Last week, I mentioned that I’d combined the quart of strawberries from my latest Philly Foodworks with two additional quarts to make a batch of strawberry chutney. This chutney is much like the sweet cherry version I wrote about last summer and it’s a good one to eat with cheese or in grain bowls. …

Hey New England! I'm going to be in Vermont and Maine this week. I'm doing a bunch of free demos and one very affordable class. Check the full schedule.
Tweet As you might have noticed, I’ve been traveling a lot this summer. I’ve been up and down the west coast, spent two weeks driving around the south, and flew to Chicago twice. One portion of the country that I’ve pretty well neglected has been New England. However, all that changes this week. I’m going …

Honey sweetened raspberry preserves! If you missed the early summer crop, know that raspberries typically put out a late summer harvest as well, so you didn't miss your chance to make this jam! http://foodinjars.com/2014/07/honey-sweetened-raspberry-preserves/

I've been showing you all the cover of my new book, Preserving by the Pint , for months now. I thought that since today is its official release date (though Amazon makes such things mostly moot by shipping pre-orders as soon as it has them in stock), it might be fun to show you what it looks ...
