The lower the score, the less likely they are to show it: The Local Government Association is encouraging England to make it mandatory to display their Food Hygiene Rating, after finding that establishments that scored below an acceptable level do not show their rating.

First Big Ben was announced to be silent for the next 4 years, and now MP's are requesting a cat in the Houses of Parliament to help resolve their pest problem.

To some, these health and safety issues sound ridiculous, when in reality they are actually more realistic than you might think.

The HSE and local authorities are honing in on businesses that are failing to comply; and new sentencing guidelines, which were introduced on 1st February 2016, toughened penalties for health and safety and food safety offences. This has resulted in an increase in fines.

To avoid any unwanted high penalties, it is important to be aware of the different offences that come under the new guidelines, and for companies to place health and safety as a leading priority.
