~ Drinking a "Celebration" Fresh Hop IPA (2015) by on
I'm not even sure what they'll do with a separate Luke Cage show considering how integral he was through this run. But I cannot wait to see it. He was awesome. We even got a couple of "Sweet Christmas" lines. I guess we just need him to bust out the wide collared, unbuttoned bright yellow disco shirt and headband.
David Tennant was a perfect Killgrave (The Purple Man). Creepy as hell one minute, charming and funny the next. Loved every minute of his screen time.
So many secondary characters I loved. Malcolm, Hogarth, and Patsy "Hellcat" Walker!
And finally, I wasn't sure about Krysten Ritter in this role. Honestly, I was not a fan of her in Breaking bad. But she turned me here. She was badass and endearing.
And pulled off another fantastic Marvel series. To tell the truth, I may be loving the Netflix Marvel U more than the movie portion.
She said, "It’s not a public event, but I wanted you to be invited because you really spearheaded the campaign last summer/fall."
Okay, my new job is changing already. After 3-4 months, the company's biggest .Net client dropped them. So, instead of building up a 3-4 person .Net practice (with me on top), they do not even have enough .Net work to keep me busy full time.
Fortunately, they have loved my work so far and made a proposal to keep me from choosing to leave for greener .Net pastures.
The Up Sides:
But now, they would love for me to become a Java developer. They will pay for training courses and give me a long runway to get up to speed. Unfortunately, this is not Android which does interest me, just straight Java. They have no need of Android development. Of course that gets me most of the way towards Android development and it is on their dime and time.
The Down Sides:
I would be leaving .Net behind. I would have preferred to stay current and advance my skills on the Microsoft stack. But the time and dedication it would take for me to jump on this Java train would not leave much time to keep up without regular advanced project work on the job. My .Net skills will quickly become dated and obsolete.
Also, they are using a paid framework for web front ends (Sencha ExtJS but not Touch) for both their Node and Java apps instead of Angular which is would prefer. This means that I would not be able to do personal projects using this dev stack to help solidify my adoption of these new skills.
So, my choice is to move on and find a new .Net gig, a platform I have spent over a decade working in and is my true dev stack love? Or make a clean break from .Net and dive in head-first and re-create myself as a Java developer.
Wait, if I become a Java developer, am I required to grow a hipster beard and dress ironically or is that optional?
Sigh. The developer's life.
I have a birthday almost annually.
I love going to concerts, but never do anymore.
I love going to movies, but never do anymore.
I randomly laugh. (quite embarrassing)
I prefer the term geek or nerd over dork though I am all three.
I used to work at Microsoft.
I do woodworking (like tables from cherry, maple, and walnut)
I build model rockets. My highest reached over 2000 feet apogee.
I am married with three kids.
