I know, Google will hate me but I can be quite persistent ;)

+Georgios Nastos Several technews websites have uploaded the extension to external sites, so you could probably grab it from one site you trust and install it by dropping the file on your extension page in the Chrome browser. That should usually work.

Yep. Unfortunately, Google decided to take that drag-and-drop ability out of Chrome about 8 months ago. They have chosen not to re-implement that feature since then. I just tested again with the newest build (last week)

thanx i did download it but it doesnt work :S

You need to be on the Chrome extensions tab. Then you can simply drag and drop the downloaded extension there.

thats what i did :( i even tried on the canary version of chrome..still no luck

I can only imagine that Google then found a way to now block the installation in general.

you can still unzip the crx (its really just a zip) and load it I bet. (at least I would hope)

I was just able to drag and drop the extension directly from the bottom download bar into the extensions page to install it. Chrome Version 35.0.1916.114 m

Thanks for sharing btw!

Worked for me about an hour ago and I'm using the regular version on Windows 8.1

In order to install it by drag and drop you have to be in developer mode

I have downloaded the .crx file and have not been able to install it. Developer Mode is turned on in the Extensions page, but when I drag and drop the file into the Extensions window, nothing happens. I've also tried using the "Load unpacked extension..." button but I repeatedly get the following error message:

"Could not load extension from '[file location]'. Manifest file is missing or unreadable."

I'm using Chrome 35.0.1916.114 (the regular version) on a Mac. I'm using a computer that's hooked up to a network, I'm pretty sure I moved the file to the local hard drive but I'll double-check.

I'm using Windows 8.1 64 bit here.

I was wondering if any updates/improvements expected with Chrome bookmark manager & tags
