A House in the City Inspired by a Cabin in the Woods

When the owners of a plot of land in the center of Elche, Spain, approached Antonio Maciá A&D to design their new home, they expressed their desire to live in a forest. Since their plot happened to be small and not in the woods, the new home’s design required a lot of imagination. The designers researched ways to incorporate forest-like aspects through plants, larger spaces, and overhead lighting to achieve that free feeling of being outdoors in nature

British architect David Chipperfield has upgraded the Royal Academy of Arts in London, with a concrete bridge that connects two buildings, a new auditorium and renovated galleries

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the institution, David Chipperfield Architects has rejuvenated the Royal Academy's (RA) "unloved building" at 6 Burlington Gardens and connected it to the institution's main building, Burlington House.

17 postmodern buildings join UK's listed building register

The fate of 17 of the UK's postmodern buildings has been secured by preservation body Historic England, in a bid to "stem losses of this important style of architecture"

TACO creates its own pink-toned architecture studio on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula

Mexican architecture firm TACO has designed the Portico Palmeto studio to act as its headquarters, with pink walls, local materials, and tall shutters that open up the interior to its tropical setting

The 1,453-square-foot (135-square-metre) rose-coloured building serves primarily as an architecture studio in Mérida – a historic city on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.

French studio XTU Architects has developed a concept for four twisting glass towers in Hangzhou, China, featuring facades covered in panels impregnated with micro-algae

The studio's design for French Dream Towers includes its patent-pending "bio facade" technology.

The concept involves introducing a layer of algae to provide natural insulation, as well as offsetting the building's environmental impact by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen.
