If you’ve got a deck at your home, you already know that the amount of snow we’ve seen this winter has done a number on it. Some people in the area have seen their decks completely break off from the house because of the high snowfall. While your deck may appear to be just fine, it’s never a bad time to double-check. I’m definitely going to get my deck checked after this winter. To learn more about why you need to take a closer look at your deck this spring, watch this short video.

One question I get a lot from various groups of people is, “What do we do with all this stuff?” Whether you’re buying, selling, downsizing, or just doing some spring cleaning, odds are you have some extra stuff you’re not sure what to do with. There are a few different options you can consider, whether it means selling disposing, or giving away your extra clutter. To find out what options I’m talking about, watch my latest video.

If you’ve recently felt a rumbling in the ground or in your house here in Montana, it wasn't in your imagination. It was an earthquake. Many people worry when they experience these short, mysterious vibrations because few realize how seismically active Montana actually is. To learn more about earthquakes in Montana, watch my latest video.

In Flathead Lake, we saw 46 sales in 2017. That’s down from the 52 we saw the year before, but it’s up from the 44 we saw in 2015. The median price in Flathead Lake is up to $689,000 right now and there are seven pending sales on the lake as well. Each of these pending sales is below the $900,000 mark.

I’m often asked whether or not sellers should bother to schedule a home inspection. Generally speaking, I’d say that, yes, they should, unless there’s some reason why the buyer shouldn’t expect any defects. Today, I have three reasons why we encourage sellers to do inspections. The first is that it can save you money. To hear why this seemingly paradoxical statement can be true, watch my latest video.

Just how accurate is Zillow’s Zestimate feature? Today, I’ve got some information you need to know before relying on this website. First, the Zestimate relies only on data because it is computer-generated. This becomes an issue because real estate transactions are not public information and cannot be pulled up through databases in the state of Montana. To learn more, watch this short video.

I always get the same question around this time of year from homeowners. They want to know if they should take their homes off the market during the off-season or not. If you’re still trying to sell your home, the fall can actually offer quite a few benefits. One is that there is a much higher concentration of serious buyers out there. To learn more, watch our latest video.

Around this time 30 years ago, Black Monday happened and the stock market fell 20% after a long, strong run. After Black Monday, the real estate market in this area took off and stayed extremely strong for quite a few years after that. I mention this anniversary because I’m hearing the same thing from customers now that I was hearing 30 years ago. They don’t want to take money out of the stock market to buy a lake home because it’s doing so well. To find out why that could be a mistake, watch my latest video.
