Overall ok hotel experience. Most of the time is spent on the beach, so ultimately the beach front access via the hotel is worth staying there. The wifi was not very good, and very spotty. Food availability was limited and expensive at the hotel. During the stay, you have to wear a wristband to get back into the hotel from the beach. The beach is fantastic.

The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Beautiful beach access directly from the resort. A poolside bar. Billiards, ping pong, theater in the family center. Gym. Amazing spa.

My family loved it! The all-inclusive package was perfect for us - parents and two grown children. My parents rented a car to explore and my brother and I went on excursions. We met for happy hour every night to enjoy the beautiful sunset, then dinned together. Because of some of the bad reviews, we all went with low expectations and an open mind. We were all pleasantly impressed. Sure internet was spotty at times and a few dishes weren't on point, but the friendly service, beautiful scenery and quality time with family made up for any small mishaps. Pura Vida!

Visited the end of July 2014 for son's wedding. Beautiful resort, nice staff, but at least 10 people out of our group of 70 got FOOD POISONING from the resort's restaurant including both of the groom's parents the night before the wedding. It wasn't just an isolated occurrence; others got sick on different days. Kitchen definitely has some cleanliness issues. Management doesn't acknowledge that the problem exists no matter how many guests bring it to their attention. This is a beautiful, wonderful place to stay. My only advice would be to bypass 'all inclusive' and go explore the excellent local dining instead.

Flamingo Beach Resort is a moderate beachfront hotel that offers guests a bed & breakfast plan or an all-inclusive meal/alcoholic drink plan at a very reasonable rate. It's a wonderful choice for budget conscious travelers. The hotel layout is simple but everything you would need and expect from a resort hotel is available - swim-up bar, restaurant, sunset lounge with occasional live music, kids' club, small casino, fitness center, spa, and tennis court. The rooms are also simple yet comfortable and have all the necessities - cable TV, minibar (not included with the all-inclusive plan), king or two queen beds, and A/C. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is good but remember there is only one restaurant, so it may not be the best choice for a week all-inclusive stay, more like 3-4 nights all-inclusive. Plus, you can always switch to the B&B plan and do lunch/dinner at nearby restaurants to switch it up. Overall, it's a wonderful, value-friendly hotel with great service, perfect beachfront location on Playa Flamingo, and all the amenities of a larger resort without all the crowds. ~Theresa, Central America Vacation.

A week of heaven in tropical Costa Rica in February, we're from Chicago. The hour drive from the Airport was worth it. It is rather secluded, a few restaurants in walking distance. Count on taxis to take you to Tamarindo Beach and Coco Beach for fabulouse shopping, we did. We also did the Congo Zip-Line and it was a blast, worth every penny. The hotel itself, restful, clean and an old time elegance. Staff goes out of their way for you. After asking I was moved to another part of the hotel where wifi was a lot better. If you'll be needing internet ask for a room that HAS it. Did the all inclusive and so worth it, food selection from daily and different buffet or menu was very good. Lounging by the pool, walking across the street to walk the fabulous Flamingo Beach. Guests gather on the beach at sunset and applaud each one. Don't have a camera, don't worry there are two young ladies there Ana and Val who walk around all day asking if tou want photos taken, and if so, you just visit their little store near the lobby and buy the pics you like. This is a people friendly resort, made lots of new friends, including the local iguanas near the Restaurant/Bar. I'm not great with name but three of the staff stand out. Adam (?) guy at front desk who was helpful in getting room changed. Girl who worked in restaurant Shashanty (SP?) and Indiria (clerk in the Brit Store in lobby.) Will go back. will ask for room with wifi. This place is heaven.
